Food was yummy, drinks were good too! Tiff was waiting at our table and the floor and also the bartender. She was very hard-working and sincere, and we totally adored her presence. Our friends and I had a great time. Recommended!
Average, it doesn’t make the mark but has potential to be a good eatery. In my travels, I have had many joyous savoring as of Ethiopian cuisine, with its exquisite Berbere sauce, spices and yes, chilies. This Pittsburgh shindig misses the mark, although it qualifies an average rating. The menu is short, which should allow the chef to master it. He/she MUST if this place is to progress. The Injera, an Ethiopian staple, is a tad more acidic than what I had in other establishments. It leaves a lingering sourness on the back of the palate that limits enjoyment of the main dishes. Their samplers meat or veggies are a good way savor flavor and textures. The veggies sampler is slightly better than the meat sampler. BUT the meats all tasted the same, the Tana Tibs Lamb has the slight edge. Main issue—-WHY oh WHY is food served lukewarm?? It’s verging on cold!! It also NEEDS more seasoning and some heat. Ethiopian food is known for its balanced seasoning and heat! Another issue—Enjoyment of Ethiopian dining with one’s bare fingers. Therefore, cleansing wipes and/or heated moistened hand towels MUST be provided. Solve the issues, and it will be a good eatery.
This food wasn't as good as the regular ethiopian food I get not like most ethiopian restaruaunts it was not authentic I feel like this place is white washed and I didn't like that you call white person answers you go to columbus or ga and your gonna get a Habesha speaking person the injera was to light and the non spicy tibs were weird tasting
I was very disappointed. We ordered two sample platters and they asked if they could put them on one plate. They did not send extra pancake and the plate was filled with the two platters, so there was no way to use the pancake things to eat. I asked for more of the pancakes and she said they were out of them. We had to ask for forks. I then watched her bring out other plates with pancakes which really made me angry but I didn’t want to take it out on the waitress. The food was also cold… not even luke warm. Cold. The atmosphere was disappointing, as was the entire experience. It was a Friday night and the place was empty which should have been a warning. The management of this place needs to step it up a lot.
The food was surprisingly bland; I barely remember what I ate. The portion size was very disappointing especially considering the price. Service was pretty good. Atmosphere was fine but I think the place is too big. Wheelchair accessibility: There are stairs to get inside but they have a dedicated wheelchair lift.
Had dinner last night at Tana with my daughter. We both had the Vegetarian Combo which is served on a large crepe with four veggie selections and eaten by hand. I also ordered a side of collard greens which I would recommend. It was very good although I would have liked a bit more seasoning. Service was good and friendly. Attractive, simple decor.
It was a little cold when we got there, but they'd just opened, and it heated up nicely after the waitress turned it up. Food was great, though I need to come back and try the spicy dishes, as my guests needed mild food this visit.Food: 5/5
It was interesting experience to have Ethiopian food in Pittsburgh. But the price compare the amount of the food meat and vegetables are not enough for the roll. And the roll is sour flavor it’s not their fault, just wanna you early notice if you first time want to try
The restaurant ambience is nice but the portions were rather small compared to the price and the food was bland. The service was friendly but unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurantDine in: Yes
So happy to have an Ethiopian restaurant in Pittsburgh. Got the meat and vegetarian samplers. Both came with a lot of food and were tasty. I thought the injera was particularly good. Super nice people running the place. I ordered to go but thought the atmosphere was cute. Would definitely come back and sit down for a meal in the future with friends.
