This place was so clean. The staff went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. They took very good care of me there. They keep a tight schedule, for groups and meetings. The food was really good.

Boring place in the middle of nowhere. Nothing to do except puzzles and color with crayons like you're in kindergarten. Some staff are extremely disrespectful to LGBT patients. Groups as a whole are uninspiring, poorly managed and all around boring. Place has not aged well for such a new building. Best thing as some others have mentioned is food is somewhat decent. In all would not send your loved ones here.

I felt this hospital was beautiful, very clean and welcoming. I felt my family member received exceptional care and wish other Behavioral Health facilities would take note of the way this facility is run. My only complaint is the amount of staff with tattoos, my family member was on the children's floor and one young girl working the afternoon shift on 3/23 was covered, both arms and was only wearing a short sleeved t-shirt. At first I thought she may have been a visitor but when I saw her behind the desk with the moving vitals machine I realized she was an employee. My suggestion would be that staff be required to wear appropriate clothing that supports the professionalism the hospital atmosphere displays. This type of job requires a professional appearance and while I am not against tattoos, there should be an expectation that they be covered up while dealing with both patients and their families. It's easy to look past a simple piece of art, however having close to a dozen displayed is in poor taste. Other than that observation the facility is top notch, hopefully this observation will lead to a change in the dress code policy.

My thoughts on Taravista that is in Devens. I wanted to wait until my daughter had been there for at least a little bit before I posted my thoughts. This review is for their adolescent unit that is for ages 15-25. Most of the patients are between 15-20 during my daughters stay We are on day 8 and so far our experience has been definitely without a doubt the very best of any unit she has been to which sadly includes a lot of them! The nurse practitioner who is overseeing her meds has been very informative and very responsive to any of my phone calls. I'm impressed that they are trying things that nobody has ever even talked about trying. They move slowly with med changes and increase the dosages at a very responsible rate. The social worker has also been great staying in touch with her out patient providers and her DMH team. Also very responsive to returning my phone calls. I call every night to get an end of day report and the nurses have been exceptionally informative and very happy to answer my questions and I never feel like I'm being rushed off the phone. The counsellors have seemed engaged and interested in helping my daughter and the other patients. The groups seem very age appropriate and interesting enough to at least hold my daughters attention who is not a fan of group therapy and in the past has often refused to participate in them at all. She seems to be attending almost all of the groups and is engaged and participating which says something very positive about how they are conducting these group therapy sessions. The facility itself.....absolutely beautiful!!! It's clean bright, cheerful, yet a very calming atmosphere. You can tell a lot of thought went into designing it! The food...My daughter has like about 90% of the meals and says it is the best food by far that she has ever had while being hospitalized. A few things my daughter has mentioned that she loves that other hospitals have not done. Evening tea and dessert time. Headsets that work with an IPad to listen to music with. So you can actually listen to music you like. Two 30 minute times a day that is called media time and you are allowed to use your cellphone to text friends and family, and catch up on social media. It's the first time she hasn't felt like she has been cut off from the world and all of her friends. I was waiting because I was expecting after a week she would have complaints and stuff she hated but for the first time in our 4 year journey of inpatient hospitalizations I haven't found anything negative to say! This is the first time in all of her hospitalizations that she has seemed very calm and has had no outburst at all! So far we have been very very happy and very impressed!

I was beyond thrilled with there inpatient program for a family member. Facility was kept up and was very clean. Staff and nurses were amazing but unfortunately I did have a little problem with returned calls and following through with a certain situation that was promised to be taken care of by the doctor.
