Worth Trying. Ample seating area, cakes and sweets and savoury. This review only focuses on the savoury. They're all really good and at a reasonable $1.99 price. My favorite is the meat and fish. The prawn I'm on the fence about - they tried a white sauce on the inside which is too goopy. The shrimp is also too small, they would do better to try diced/shrimp paste instead. The Portuguese tart is really good. Flaky and sweet but not too sweet. Takes AMEX. $10+ pp.
This is a very interesting option if you want to experience a similar atmosphere to a traditional Brazilian bakery where you can eat at the counter and try a good continental breakfast The menu, however, is not very traditional with items you’d find in a Brazilian bakery, and it’s more of a mix of Brazilian, Portuguese and north American which is nice, but there could be more Brazilian items such as pão na chapa, tapioca, pão de queijo, sonho etc. The waiters are very nice, but it took them almost 30 minutes to get my order because I ordered at the table with the QR code only to later find out that their system was not working. My advice to management is: stick to the traditional pen and paper to take your orders. The place is small and people who go there to eat expect the human connection with your nice staff.
Love this bakery. They literally have everything and the staff is so nice. We love the bake goods section especially the cannoli’s and the deep fried shrimp. Sadly I tried the veal sandwich recently because the picture looked good and it was really dry and lacked sauce see the photo. So that’s the only thing I wouldn’t recommend.
I see many good reviews for this place so I tried it. This is my most honest and unbiased review. I tried several cakes here and didn’t find them that great compared to other shops. Advice - please mix vanilla essence in plain and pound cakes, they taste too plain.
Ordered a birthday cake from this place. The cake was soo Damn good. Will visit again to try more pastries from their menu.
Horrible service, horrible “pao de queijo”, dreadful hot chocolate, dry croissant , and terrible everything. The “pao de queijo” was extremely doughy and tasted like pure cassava starch. The croissant I won’t even comment as it is not a real croissant. Doesn’t have the buttery taste or flakiness. The hot chocolate tasted like water and to finalize, the service was terrible. Would never return. Not sure why this places has customers.
The bakery's updated with more seating and a hot table. It's a reliable go-to when in the neighborhood but today I tried the veal sandwich, and let's say that I'll continue going to that famous place on Claremont St for veal. The bakery goods though are terrific!
I don't support a business where the owner disrespect the employees. I visited the bakery in a busy day, and I didn't have any problem, I ordered a chicken sandwich it was well served but while I was waiting my order I noticed one weird behaviour behind the bar, a man yelling and saying bad words for a woman, after I figured out he is the owner. She was really uncomfortable with that situation and I felt sorry for her, because she was smiling and serving everyone in a good mood. Honestly we are in the 21st century, and there are better ways to treat the employees, because of that I won't come back to this place.
Been a long time since I've been here, and even thoughbthe name and interior has changed, same friendly people, same familiar smell, same delicious Natas Portuguese custard pastry.
Great desserts and food with plenty of seating. Parking can be difficult as in this area the meter maids love going crazy as they tend to do in ethnic neighbourhoods. Yay government thanks for finding us off ! Now as for the pastries I'm sorry but they're simply not the best as many other Portuguese bakeries have much better offerings. They do offer a great selection though with the obligatory great espressos that so many of us love for a price of around $2.00. So all in all a good deal but if you truly want to experience Portuguese pastries go elsewhere...
