Tried this place out for the first and looking forward to coming back! Wife ordered a skillet and I had the blt. The French fries were honestly some of the best I've had! The server was super attentive and nice. The atmosphere was calm and welcoming Food: 5/5
their skillets have been a long time favorite and service is always warmFood: 5/5
Honestly, I must say the breakfast that I had was great. The place is very crowded because the food is great so that's expected. I had strawberry pancakes with scrambled eggs and green tea, but to my surprise, it came with slices of oranges. It was my first time at this place since I'm visiting Chicago, and I came across it via Google Maps searching for breakfast places near my apartment. I'm glad that I found this place.
Let me tell you how delicious the food here is a tasty corner. I did get one of the salads it was the Greek chicken salad I added green peppers and it was absolutely delicious. I usually get breakfast from here and it is such a large amount of breakfast for a good price. I usually get the veggie omelette I wish I had the pictures. Even the soup here is homemade and it is so delicious. The workers are very nice and pleasant. The owners are sweethearts. You feel like family when you dine in at this place. We have been going there for a very long time and we love it.
What a gem. Their entire menu is great. Soups absolutely phenomenal. ALL OF THEM! Split Pea Wednesday makes me happy Food: 5/5
Great l'il diner in Berwyn. One of the best skirt steaks I've had in a long time.
I went to the Tastee Cafe about two weeks ago, and the service was horrible. There were two waitress, and neither of them greeted me. I finally sat myself, and the waitresses appeared to be annoyed and irritated that I was there; they did not bring me any silverware or water. I finally ordered a drink after waiting 10 minutes, and the waitress just dropped it off and proceeded to walk away without asking me if I was ready to order. I tried to flag her and her other coworker down, but they kept ignoring me. Finally, the younger waitress came over and she was confused as to why I was trying to get her attention until I reminded her that I had been sitting there for over 20 minutes without water. She took my order, and I don’t think she put it in right away because I had to wait another 40 minutes for a lukewarm sandwich. Once again, she dumped it in front of me, and she didn’t ask me if I needed anything, such as water, ketchup, utensils or napkins— I didn’t have any. Once I was done, I went to the back of the cafe by the register to pay my bill, and the waitresses both proceeded to walk past me and tend to other guests even through the place wasn’t that busy. Finally, my waitress rang me out, and she was trying to apologize for the service while trying not to laugh at the same time. Frankly, I don’t know what was so funny about making me wait over an hour for a sandwich. There were a lot of other customers that we upset with the service, and many of the families that came into the cafe didn’t bother to sit down because they weren’t greeted or served. I’ve been to the cafe before and had good experiences, but this experience was so bad that I had to speak up and say something. I’m going to take my hard earned money and spend it at some of the other restaurants in Berwyn.
Tasty food. Omelets fresh along with potatoes. I tried the dumpling soup...huge dumplings and plenty of bread and crackers.Food: 5/5
My family and I have been dining here for the past 4 years and we’ve never had any complaints. Somehow today was different, I have never been so humiliated in my life. I am Bariatric patient so I order the kids breakfast all the time due to the portions.. I was told today by the waitress that I couldn’t order from the kids menu because I didn’t have a kid with me. I tried to explain to her that this is something that I always do when I dine there but she said I couldn’t she’s a new employee. I tried to the explain to the owners that we are regular patrons and somehow this must be a mistake.. instead of listening to us the lady owner kept shaking her head noI was told she didn’t speak English and the male owner basically refused to accommodate me. I was willing to pay full price for my breakfastmoney was not an issue and somehow they thought it was I just can’t consume a lot of food at one time.. it was so humiliating to have to explain in the open why I couldn’t eat regular portions. Now everyone is staring at me, how awful. I’ve eaten at bigger restaurant chains and never had I ever had to explain the “reason why”. Next time show compassion to all people.. I wasnt asking for any special treatment and instead of listening to me, you made me feel like it was wrong.. never again will I dine here and I will Share this experience with others to warn them.
I stopped in for a quick lunch to go. I got a crispy BLT with hot fries, soup and bottles water for $10! Can't beat that in Chicago. Staff were very nice and fast. Feels like an old school diner. Not fancy, but great food. If you want great food for a fantastic price, come here!
