Tastings has a varied menu and it's always very good. Tonight we had the smoked trout appetizer. The trout was done just right and accompanied with golden (yellow?) beets. Excellent! Main courses were Seafood Louis and Scallops. Both were scrunptious. We had the Chardonnay wine flight which went well with the seafood. Service as always was excellent.

Reliable, delicious, underpriced for value. An underappreciated gem in Charlottesville's highly-touted, overrated trendy restaurant scene. Six stars.

Great stock of wines--but beware of William C. Curtis, the owner. If he is the wine expert he advertises himself to be, his palate must be where all his sensitivity has clustered.   In this store this morning, to buy a bottle of wine for my 65th birthday, Curtis was brusque.  I called the store several hours later to lodge a complaint, Curtis answered, listened to my version of my morning encounter with him, and then told me "to go somewhere else, if I don't like how I was treated."   He reminded me, "I know my wines."

Wonderful,  great food and wonderful people.  850 + selections of wine. A great place to hang out.
