A rare 5 star review for me. For a few reasons. The course was in good condition, recovering from aeration but so are all the good courses in DFW right now. It’ll help in July/August. But the layout is awesome, facilities range, putting green, chipping green we’re in good condition, and the restaurant on site was really great! My 5 star goes to the fact that they allowed me to use the locker room to shower and change before a flight out. I appreciate the flexibility and great customer service. If I lived nearby, I’d definitely play here more often! Locals, play here!
The Texas Star was amazing to work with for our wedding. Leslie was so helpful and made so many suggestions. She answered all of our questions and made me feel so at ease when touring the venue. My dad was very impressed with Leslie and the venue from the first time we met with her several months ago through my wedding. He said, “The whole experience was top notch.” They do everything a venue should do! Their prices are extremely reasonable with no hidden fees, and their food prices are also EXTREMELY reasonable. Included in the costs of the room rental and food are the dance floor, tables, chairs, table linens, silverware, and napkins. If you need it, they have some vases and other decor items that can be used at no additional cost. For our private dinner, they surprised us with a very nice and sweet set up to enjoy our time together. Leslie even drove us around on a shuttle/large golf cart for our sunset pictures.
The only things that exemplifies the “Texas Star” is that they deserve a “Lone Star” review. Rude clubhouse. Friday late morning, no marshal. Held up by a 4-some 3 groups in front and the clubhouse shut our carts down saying to “play faster”. Called the clubhouse when the notification popped up and Glenn was nice but told us we were playing too slow waiting for 2-some in front of us to clear a par 3 green. Then on 18 there were 5 groups and we were told “y’all are playing too slow”. Went into the clubhouse after and Glenn was extremely confrontational saying he didn’t want to hear it when we asked why our cart was shut off and that we must’ve been playing slow. Asked for the club pro and Glenn said “you can call him whenever he is in.” 2/10 recommend this course. Nice course with a decent layout, but do not expect good service or carts that function properly. Attached photo of 3 groups waiting to tee off on hole 18.
Course sits right in the sweet spot of being in the upper tier of local public courses. Simultaneously it is within reach of average fee range. Not $50 more than most good courses but definitely $50+ less than some of the others. Nice short game area. Superb condition and layout. In my experience staff is congenial and competent. Which isn't the case across the area courses.
We had our parents 60th Wedding Anniversary Banquet here and it was perfect. I can not rave enough on the staff and how much of a help they were in so many ways. Beautiful location, the room set up was perfect, more than I could ever hoped for. Thank you to Leslie and the staff for all your hard work.
Dinner here with family, great times, great food. if you have not tried the Ravens Grill you are missing out of great Southern Comfort foods. The chef here impresses me, Kudos!
Went at 1 o'clock on a Sunday and the service was exceptionally slow due to a lot of customers. The staff was friendly and the food was good just very slow. They need more staff. Ate breakfast items - eggs, sausage, biscuit, and gravy were all good. The biscuit was overcooked and hard on the bottom.
Gem of a course. Not too challenging and fun layout. Pro shop and restaurant have what you need.
The course is in great shape, but they go a little overboard pretending this is Augusta national. The cart will beep at you at an alarming rate, sometimes 3-4 times a hole to let you know you’re either on the verge of hitting someone’s house who lives on a course or too close to out of bounds. It also warned us 4 holes in a row we were behind pace, and the screen said 2 mins behind. Entire time you’re playing it feels like you’re being followed or checked on. Nice but not that nice.
Texas Star is always a good golfing experience. I invited several friends from Florida and we played several courses in the DFW area. Texas Star is always one of their favorites. You got to eat at The Raven grill and have that double barrel chicken fried steak
