The 1914 Sather Tower, also known as the Campanile, which offers breathtaking views of the University of California Berkeley campus and the bay. The Campanile holds a special place in the hearts of the UC Berkeley community, standing tall at 307 feet and making its presence felt for miles around. This iconic structure, the world's second-tallest freestanding clock and bell tower, is an essential part of the campus experience. Its endearing nickname, derived from its resemblance to St. Mark's Campanile in Venice, adds charm. The melodic sound of the 61 bells in the carillon fills the air three times daily, bringing joy to all, except during exam times when quiet is needed.
The Campanile at UC Berkeley is a must-visit spot in the Oakland area. As an iconic symbol of the university, it offers a breathtaking view and an unparalleled photo opportunity. The friendly atmosphere is filled with people who are more than willing to help capture your perfect shot. Don't miss the chance to experience this fun and memorable location while exploring the vibrant campus and its surroundings.
It’s free for students, 5$ for everyone else. Definitely worth though, even when you have to pay! Make sure to come at a time when someone is playing, e.g., shortly after noon. The view onto Berkeley and the bay in general is fantastic. Enjoy!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$1–5
It is free if you are UCB student. It also worth visiting if you’re traveler. The view on the top is amazing and you can see Golden Gate Bridge!!
So lucky to visit here and go to the top of the tower in September. Beautiful view ! We bought our Tix online, friendly welcome. Would like to go back when the bells are playing.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYesPrice for adult entry$1–5
$4-5 per person. View is AMAZING!
Drove there more than 1 hour with kids. Unfortunately the Sather Tower was closed for spring break even on weekend despite many tourists walking around. I don't think it makes any sense!!! Still very nice around though if you are lucky enough to find a parking spot.Visited onWeekend
Contributed by Berkeley students, completed 1917 with $144,000 - this tower is one of must go tours attraction in UBC. Cost $4 to go up, get nice view of Berkeley downtown. I wish it had option to claim though- it is elevator all way up. Worth the visit. Need 15 min on the top as it is quite small.
Sadly I didn't go inside but it was extremely admirable from afar and very photogenic. The place is clean and has luscious green grass all around..Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo wait
Free for students and only $5 for visitors, it has one of the best views in Berkeley.
