Unfortunately not what i remembering... First time back at this restaurant since 2020 and i was disappointed. Garden is still amazing. Drinks was ok ... just ok. Food except the appetizer who was special for the night wasn't as good as i remember it. Flavor wasn't there at all. The bread that they start you with was overall my favorite. They have a great dessert menu with options, but i wasn't satisfied of what i tried. Staff was friendly and you get enough attention during the dinner. Should i go back there i will and if the food hit the spot i will change my review.
Best meal on the island. Actually on the far side from where we were but worth the drive. I had the filet and it was to die for! Oysters were prepared beautifully, rolls were fresh. Lobster compote was tasty. Everyone enjoyed their meal. You are going to need a reservation and you may be surprised by who you see here. Classy!
There seems to be a tremendous Identity Crisis at the Chanticleer. We were excited for our long awaited reservation for this well known, French Gem, but we’re perplexed, and greatly disappointed, on multiple levels. First of all, we were seated inside where it was absolutely sweltering. No air conditioning, fans- the air was heavy & stagnant. The servers, who took orders and delivered bread were sweating. The menu is supposed to be Modern French, but there was a heavy Asian influence, including Tandori Salmon. There was almost zero trace of French cuisine to be found. It was so hot, that other diners were requesting to get the menus back, in order to fan themselves. Our selection of Lamb Bolognese and Salmon tandoori were poor choices and best saved for environments where the temperature is conducive to enjoying a heavy, hot meal. Service staff were fine and polite, but clearly miserably hot. Huge horse flies circled us and our food and the extra glass of ice that I requested, arrived quickly but melted within minutes. It was like trying to eat in a sauna. Our bottle of champagne was kept in ice, so it was the only enjoyable part of the meal. I don’t know if my salmon was any good. It was so uncomfortably hot that I ate 1/4 of it and placed my silverware down. No one ever came by to ask if everything was okay. It wasn’t. We simply couldn’t enjoy our meals in this environment. My husband literally dipped his napkin in his water, and blotted his perspiring forehead. I finished 1/4 of my meal, my husband finished his entire appetizer and 1/4 of his Bolognese a before we just gave up. No one ever asked how it was, or if everything was OK. The server eventually came around and simply asked “would you like me to box these?”. The menu is inappropriate for a French restaurant. It’s also wildly inappropriate for a summer menu. It is not French modern. It’s heavily Asian/Indian influenced. So much so that the doggy bag containers are Chinese takeout boxes. Overall a huge disappointment. Do not eat inside, particularly if you don’t enjoy flies and no air-conditioning on a humid day. If you want to go I suggest you eat outside after 8:30 when it cools down, and then, don’t expect anything that remotely resembles French food. Addition: the next day- we were once again disappointed when we grabbed our “Chinese take out” boxes out if our refrigerator so that we could enjoy the remainder of our previous nights dinner. Since it was so damn hot in the restaurant, my husband barely touched his Lamb bolognese. Well, surprise, rather than boxing up his bolognese he had over a half portion remaining, they instead send us home with two dinner rolls in the take out box. Really, really poor overall experience.
Beautiful venue and exceptional service. This is not a french restaurant. We had 4 at our table an 3 ordered the same fish dish. They all said it was very good but it did have a spicy flavor to the dish. The 4th person ordered a scallop dish and was surprised how spicy it was. The menu should state if a meal is spicy. Lesson for the day: Ask if it is spicy. All in all it was very good but the total price was exorbitant.
Outstanding! Incredible food and beautiful atmosphere. Menu is impressive, great appetizers and entrées. Food presentation is beautiful. Very professionally run, great staff and service. Indoor and outdoor patio dining. This is a busy, well known restaurant, so reservations are highly recommended. Chanticleer must be on your Nantucket bucket list!!! Enjoy.
The best dining experience I’ve had in a long time and absolutely the most beautiful spot I’ve ever dined in. We had dinner in the Rose Garden. The service was just right, food was perfect. Our waiter, Michael, was a delight. Thank you for a wonderful dining experience. We look forward to returning!
The garden is beautiful, the duck was tasty. Not cheap - you're in Nantucket after all.
Aside from the oysters with the slightly odd, sweet interpretation of a a mignonette sauce, everything else was outstanding. I had the halibut, wife had the filet mignon. Best on Nantucket, couldn't have been better!!
One of the best restaurants I’ve been to hands down. From food, vibe, service and ambiance it was so epic we went 2 days in a row.
Lovely evening. Sommelier was good and had some nice options like the Foley chardonnay -- unlike some other ACK restaurants. Nice mix of ethnic accents on traditional French food. The service was outstanding.
