They discriminate against certified teachers who are disabled. I was hired on but never employed at a school. I never taught officially as a teacher or hired on somewhere. I was yelled at over the phone by the person who hired me. I was told lies about myself. Which was mind blowing being told things I said but never in my life said. I would never say I became a teacher because it was easy or that I didn't want to teach. Why would I go to college specifically to become a teacher if I didn't want to be a teacher? I was told that I had *many* complaints against me as a teacher. Which was odd considering I was never hired on to a building. I never was allowed to see these *complaints*. I saw many disabled teachers and workers in this school district so I was excited. I thought based on what I saw I'd have a different hiring experience. I was wrong sadly. I am a quality teacher, love working with kids and yes, I am disabled. But my disability doesn't prevent teaching or working in schools.

A word of caution, if you're planning on moving to Tulsa and enrolling your children in the Tulsa Public School District, do yourself and your children a favor and forget about it. Private schools are definitely the way to go in this city if you can afford it-they have some really good schools but dealing with the school department is a headache. No one knows anything there. It's like a building full of confused nuts that answer the phone just to say "I don't know how to help you, and I don't give a flip."

This school district is both good and bad. My daughters have had great opportunities in this school district learning art and band and orchestra having opportunities. But when my daughter left middle school went to the high school they had no orchestra which took away her scholarship opportunities. This has made her depressed not happy with that. The Elemantry ok well my youngest has disabilities and his behavior not always good well the principal had it out for him and his brother so it's been a hard 2 years so far. Can't afford to move so we are stuck and trying to get a transfer is like trying to pull teeth no nova cane so don't fall for that one a big waste of time. So it's both good and bad good luck.
