I loved my room! I travel a lot, and have stayed in many luxurious hotels, and this hotel did not disappoint as far as looks, amenities, and comfort. I had a nice, larger than average room that was very comfortable. However, the check-in time turned out to be 4:00. I've only had one other hotel with a 4:00 check-in time -- most are 3:00 -- and it really irked me, the first time as well as this time because, how often do you have any control over your travel/arrival times??? I showed up about 3:30, unaware of the later check-in time, and ended up feeling very frustrated when it became such a chore to just get into my 'reserved' room, since ... "check-in isn't until 4:00!" Fast forward to morning. I woke early, and planned my morning, thinking check-out would be 11 ... maybe 12 if I was lucky--I'd never seen anything to know for sure, since most hotels have that info on the door, but nothing, nowhere obvious. I worked for a while (laptop), thinking I'd order breakfast before heading to the spa to work out, and maybe even have a massage. As I was looking through the hotel info binder to get info for room service and spa, I happened to notice the check-out time --10:00 am!!!!!! I had no time to do anything but race around, trying to get showered, dressed, and packed before I had to be down at the desk to check out, which I managed at 9:56. I seriously feel like they gave me the finger! Like saying, "We don't give a $#!& about YOU, just get in, get out, and give us your money!" Why offer so many amenities if you don't give your guests any time to take advantage of them???

The first room we were put into had a leak in the restroom that dripped whenever the toilet above us flushed. The second room, we got to hear domestic violence occurring next to us. After that we finally got a decent room. The views are great, the staff is mostly friendly. Although we got very terse responses when asking for things like silverware in the room to eat leftovers. In their defense, it is off-season, so I imagine they're understaffed. Still, the rooms aren't cheap, I expected a happier attitude. The spa upstairs is pretty nice, though. Great massages. The restaurant staff during off-season really brought the experience down, but that's not necessarily the hotels fault. They seemed very concerned about their tips, but less concerned about doing their jobs. Only time I've seen a bartender basically demand gratuity on the tab when he served the wrong beer. All in all it wasn't a terrible experience, I'm willing to bet if you go during ski season you'll have a wonderful time. For the prices I was paying I was underwhelmed.

My husband and I stayed at The Cliff on August 13th, 2017. We were very disappointed. Our room had no views. We looked out the window at just big trees. With so many great views around this was very disappointing. We were really looking forward to staying there because we had heard mostly good things about it. There were holes in the ceiling in our room. The sink was cracked. The room was old and out of date. I don't know if I would stay here again and I can't recommend it to other people. We get many people visiting from out of town and I will discourage them from staying at The Cliff. The staff was good and friendly, except for the person that checked us in at the front desk. He explained nothing to us. Just gave us our key and told us where the elevator was. No info on what they had to offer, as far as restaurants, pools and activities. We did have fun at the Oktoberfest. The Aerie restaurant was awesome! We wouldn't have known about it if other people didn't tell us. Front desk didn't mention it. So very disappointed!!!!!!!!!!

We stayed one night at the Cliff, this past Saturday. Allegedly, Saturday evening a third party used our room number in signing for their $150 dinner at the Aerie, the Cliff's flagship restaurant. They were able to charge their dinner to our room! There is apparently nothing to stop anyone -- Snowbird guest or random person off the street -- from walking into the Aerie, eating and drinking as much as they please, simply making up a room number and signing the bill with it, then walking off, leaving either the actual room occupant or Snowbird itself with the bill. We were not alerted to the occurrence by Snowbird. In fact, we only discovered it by accident ourselves. Usually, in these modern times, we do not need to visit the (always crowded at SB) front desk of a hotel to "check out;" we simply close the room door and leave and a receipt is emailed after our departure. We decided to stop at the desk this time, just to make sure all was correct (not yet knowing about the bogus charges). This was Sunday morning. When the desk clerk printed our receipt, we noticed (and immediately questioned) the extra $150 charge. The clerk then went to the back room and pulled the Aerie's dinner receipts from the previous evening -- of course signed by someone who was not us. It took 10+ minutes, while we were standing there waiting; the clerk had to check by hand all the receipts. Fortunately, the clerk believed us and remarked that someone had "just forgotten their room number and put the wrong one." Maybe, or maybe some locals have figured out a good scam. The clerk then attempted to back the $150 charge off our bill and off my credit card. He failed at this, and then called over another, more senior desk clerk or supervisor. She also attempted to back out the $150 charge, and printed us a new receipt, telling us it was taken care of. We mentioned that Snowbird should probably change its policies or its technology to have these incidents not happen; she assured us "it doesn't happen often" and that they "try to catch it" when it does. But what if we hadn't stopped at the desk on our way out? What if they hadn't believed us that we didn't go to the Aerie? Today, Monday, I checked my credit card account statement online. Not only is the $150 charge still there (not removed), but there is another $100 charge on top of that, as well as the (standard, I guess) $60 deposit for any damage or incidentals. I have no idea what the $100 is for -- was someone also shopping at their gift shop and charging it to my room?? I have no way to tell, and apparently neither do they. None of those charges have been removed. I am thus at this moment lacking $310 of available credit, due to Snowbird's failures to handle my money appropriately. A phone call to the Cliff, handled by the same desk-clerk woman who supposedly corrected these failures yesterday got us numerous apologies, and the excuse that today is a bank holiday (October 9) and that it should all be straightened out when the bank opens tomorrow (Tuesday). Well, aside from my strong doubts that it will "be straightened out," I don't want apologies or excuses. I want to not have to deal with this! I want Snowbird to have technology safeguards in place -- simple ones, at that -- so this doesn't happen. It's not my bank's fault, it's not my fault -- this is all on Snowbird. How can one night's stay be such a hassle? Especially at the so-called "flagship" hotel of the resort? Needless to say, I will not be giving any more money (or even more importantly, any credit card or other account numbers) to the Cliff Lodge. I suggest that readers take extra caution if they do decide to go to Snowbird -- or better yet, stay elsewhere and avoid the headache! If the Cliff and Snowbird want to be a "four star" resort, they need to make some serious (but not difficult!) changes to their system. They are nowhere near that now.

I was only here for conferences. The wireless they provided was adequate, the conference facilities were fine and the scenery beautiful. But the food was really lousy. Sad entree's on the buffet, tasteless slosh. I suppose the salads were good enough.
