If you have great food and good service, you never go out of style. This place is the beating heart of downtown Albany.

This place is great. The sandwiches are all better than good and I've yet to try anything that is sub-par. The Reubens are pretty standard as far as how they are made, but they are stacked. The BLT's are good. Even the soups are pretty decent. Even their steak sandwich is good (Gargano's is another great option on that one if you want local -- or even Picnic Pizza) The place is small though. And sometimes it seems very, very disorganized, but they do have a system. If you go in between 1100 to 1300 you can definitely expect a little wait and possibly nowhere to sit inside. Another bummer is they're not open at night or on weekends. I would love to stop in for brunch or something sometime when I am not trying to rush on my lunch hour. Either way this little place is charming and I've been there several times in the past year. Apparently, they've been around for a long time and I've just never known about it, because I don't like going downtown. If you're looking for a good sandwich this is the place to go.

The sub sandwich which I had today was an excellent choice. The Cookie Shoppe has been one of my favorites for many years. I always look forward eating there. I highly recommend this restaurant. Mike

Dined in for breakfast and was impressed with how familiar the staff was with its customers...they knew almost everyone on a first name basis. Do yourself a favor and get the Almond Joy Bread Pudding!
