I enjoyed the George. For a 3 course meal that is slightly upscale, I liked the ambience and the price was not too bad. Portions are big to the point where I struggled to finish. Honestly could have done without dessert and it was probably the worst course. I really liked the salmon appetizer. I would definitely come again.Food: 5/5
Worst breakfast experience I've ever had. I made a horrible decision-making in choosing this location to celebrate my birthday with my friends and family. I contacted them several times to make a reservation, and they told me that they do not take bookings for breakfast, but they agreed to do their best to accommodate us. That was not the case. When I came with my friends, it was chaos. The person in charge of seating the people was doing it incorrectly. I was surprised that she accommodated so many individuals in various areas without attempting to group us together. I know it was my fault for choosing such a location for a large party during this time of the day. But they were stressed, and by the end, they were rude. They overlooked the fact that it was my birthday, and the waitresses spoke to me in a rude manner, such as "what do you want," as if confronting me while I was attempting to please everyone. This is a busy location during breakfast time. We were a party of 20, and all of us ended up being disappointed, I think everyone understood the situation, but the service wasn't the best. I was saddened because I told my family that I would take them to an upscale restaurant and I hoped they had a good experience but they were so mean with me that they noticed that attitude from the staff and I ended up being so sad. I hadn't seen my family in a while, and I really wanted to share a good moment with them here. Sadly, it wasn'tthe case. I know it was also my fault, but I didn't like how the restaurant handled the situation.
At The George, the ambiance and service lived up to expectations, creating a welcoming atmosphere. However, the culinary experience was somewhat inconsistent. The scallops stood out as exceptional, truly a highlight, but the bone marrow, though delicious, was disappointingly scant, offering barely a bite amidst a surplus of mushrooms and bread. The Steak Frites was merely satisfactory, and I found myself leaving the fries untouched, wishing for an alternative potato accompaniment. On a brighter note, the lobster served with the steak did impress. The deep-fried mushrooms were passable but failed to wow. Overall, the meal felt more like an upscale American lunch than the fancy dinner I had anticipated. Given our previous delightful experiences at The George, I remain optimistic about their capabilities. I'll be looking forward to the next menu refresh before planning another visit.
Creme brulee was way overcooked. It was so "eggy" and rubbery. The waitress said they do not validate for parking. If you want appetizers, main and dessert then you have to order the 3 courses. The service was lacking. They saw my unfinished creme brulee but never ask how the food was. We had to hunt down the sever. The service here isn't as attentive. I rather go to Charlotte. The salmon and shrimp dishes were on point. The drinks were good too. It was not super busy so wished they would space customers out better. Brunch came with scones. The scones were buttery. Decor was on point.
The restaurant truly lives up to the title of one Seattle's most beautiful restaurants. There's a bar and lounge area that are as equally impressive that lead to the entrance to the restaurant. I went there for lunch and had the burger which was a little on the salty side and the fries that came with it were a bit stale. The host was very accommodating in that I was able to get seated before my reservation and the ensuing service was excellent. I do think they can try a little harder on the menu.
My friend and I went for breakfast here and it was perfect didn’t disappoint! They have a basic menu, but it had everything we needed. They had oatmilk lattes which is a plus. The waitress was so nice and attentive. I had the Olympic breakfast and chose salad instead of the potatoes which was so good. There was an upscale ambiance and the interior is very elegant. I would definitely recommend this brasserie to my friends and will be back soon.
This is one of the upscale restaurant in Seattle. I took my husband here for his birthday and it was memorable. The service and atmosphere is impeccable. The naval wall art was so intriguing and outside library was regal. As a vegetarian options were limited for me but still good. Appetizers were good and server surprised us with tiny birthday dessert platter.
Disappointed with this place for dinner. The space is gorgeous and I wanted to love it, but the food was overpriced and not very good. We ordered the ravioli, carbonara, cod, and nori bread. The bread was my favourite part — the texture was very fresh, crunchy on the outside, soft inside, and it takes like the little packs of seaweed snacks — unique and tasty if you like nori! The pastas were both very heavy, the ravioli plate was full of butter, and felt greasy, and the carbonara was heavy as is, but also had pieces of pork belly that were the only source of flavour, but too fatty to enjoy with the dish. The cod is the plate we had issue with: the member of our party requested that the barley doesn’t include chorizo for religious reasons, which the waiter said was fine, but there were still pieces of it in the dish when it arrived. The server was very nice about handling the issue and mistakes do happen, but this was an unfortunate way to end our meal. Expensive for the quality of food. Dietary restrictions: They offer accommodations, but made a mistake catering to a dietary restriction that was called out explicitly while ordering. Parking: Parking in the area is limited, but does exist along the street. There is valet associated with the hotel
This is a beautiful restaurant with excellent service, and a nice menu. A good choice for a business meeting or even a date. The place is bright with high ceilings and natural light, a contrast to the darker library themed bar that you have to walk through. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is because the food was pretty good but not exceptional. My scallops were dry. The roasted carrots looked like they had better days. Overall, I would still come back and would just order something different.
Had a reservation for 6 for a birthday brunch on a Sunday, the restaurant was fairly empty to my surprise with several open tables around us. Our server did not offer or ask if we wanted cream or sugar with our black coffee. The table next to us was sat 20+ minutes after us and received the complimentary biscuits and their entrees before we did. After 50 minutes, the host finally brings what we thought was our entrees, only to find out that all that food was actually for a different table and so we had to wait another 15-20 minutes. We received our entrees and not only did our server not apologize or update us on why our food was so incredibly late, the MANAGER came to our table and asked if we needed anything, grabbed us ketchup and left. He did not once apologize for the delay in our food or the poor service we received. Not once did our server refill our water glasses or ask if we wanted more cocktails. We had to flag down a bartender for water. The crab in the crab eggs benedict is a complete afterthought see the photo. $55 per person plus 20% gratuity for awful service and lackluster food, I recommend you pick elsewhere for your “upscale” restaurant experience. Really upsetting to pay nearly $500 for one of the worst dining experiences of my life. Lastly, the hostess informed me that the Hotel reservation desk validates parking for across the street, but the woman at the hotel desk flat out told me no and that they don’t validate parking cause it’s too expensive and that the hostess was incorrect…‍
