I took regular chicken sand wings bowl the Worst food ever I had. Looks like it is not fresh food They charged $17 for hummus they charge close to $2 When I asked for fresh shawarma meet they didn’t have the one I asked for they are just giving old stalled or previous day food Don’t try here ever
It’s good late night/ quick casual food. Maybe not as good at the original spots on the east coast but still pretty solid if you want a bowl or a pita. Definitely would prefer the white sauce on the bowl instead of the packaging though.Food: 4/5
Excellent venue for Halal food! Prices range from around $14 for shawarma roll to $17 for standard platters, which should have chicken or beef as the meat. There are also falafel vegetarian options. Pretty decent eating space. The only suggestion I have is to have a little more variety in cold drinksFood: 5/5
A great place for lunch near Oakland city center - super fresh and tasty food, friendly service, and both an eat in or outside table option. The falafel plate was a great lunch with lots of fresh veggies and pita. Definitely a place to go back to.Food: 5/5
The bogus hype- we saw many scrumptlious pics on the internet and hoped we could have some delicious Mediterranean food but it was not we expected. The chicken was dry and was not flavorful, they stuff too much veggies which dominates the shawarma. We tried the falafel as well. It was okish, the only good we had was the hot hot fries. Overall one time visit place.
I am really disappointed in the service and quality of food. This is my 3rd time coming here. And you know what they say 3rd time a charm. Wrong it wasn't a charm. The thing that's makes me upset is. I came from all the way in Pittsburg. Via Bart and bus to get to you guys. First off I been fasting for Ramadan. And for treat for me and my husband I decided to go get some halal guys. It's takes over about a hour and a half to get there. But it was well worth it the first 2 times I went there. The person that came to take and make my order was playing on his phone but untill he put the gloves on. I understand y'all not busy. But put your phone down and greet the customer. When the guy was making our food I try to engage in conversation. To me happy worker making your food means better energy around the food. He didn't seem friendly at all. When is asked for more rice, he was like I going to have to charge you a $1 for it. First off the salad didn't look to good to start with. It had lot white hard pieces in it. And I would toss it out. Leaving less salad. So I rather have more rice then some nasty salad. So when he said he have to charge I was like can you just take some salad out. I was asking for a hella lot more rice. I got to big platters. A combo and beef one. It seems like he was just being skimpy on the portions. Except for the salad part. So I ask for little more beef. He just seems like not nice person when I asked for little more beef. When it was time to check bout. I remembered I had a coupon for free fries with my next purchase of a entree. Well it turn out that's expired 2 days prior. I didn't know that's till I checked my email. I asked to speak to the manager to see if they can honor the fries from me giving feedback the last visit. He said he was the manager and he do it this time and how most places wouldn't do that. First off most places don't make you wait fours hours after doing their survey to get item or discount. If I knew it take 4 hours. I would never done the survey. It takes almost that amount of time to go there and come home. So after dealing with not so friendly person and to find out he was the manager. Kinda just rub me the wrong way. Yes it was nice he honored it but lose the attitude. And to top it off. He didn't even bother to give us out pitta bread. In the end didn't even eat the salad it didn't taste fresh.. I am not sure no come. Back here.
Ate their falafel and fell sick. I called them, a lady answered and said the manager is not here. I expected her to take my number and ask her manager to call. She just said sorry and kept the phone. She didn't care and neither asked me what I had eaten from there that caused me to visit the doctor.
Before there were food trucks, New York City had food carts. This is a brick and mortar version of one of those food carts. Your choices are basic: chicken, beef, or falafel, and then a sandwich in a pita, large or small platter. That's it. Prices are not exorbitant and the quantity of food is reasonable. Taste is what comes from these carts as well. Because this place is so new, it's quite busy and i expect that will die down over time. Their hot sauce is on the spicy side but i did not like the overly salty and dense flavors.
I’m a long time Halal Guys supporter. All the way back when they only had the OG cart in NYC. The heart and soul of Halal Guys is the red and white sauce. Every single time I order extra sauces I never get them. Sometimes there is no sauces at all. This unacceptable. Why is it so hard to fulfill this simple request? Very disappointing and one of the many reasons your reviews are low. Do better.
The only reason anyone goes to halal guys is for the white sauce. They’re extremely stingy here and they don’t have a sauce dispenser. More importantly, the vegetables are stale, the pita so stale it’s like chips, the meat extremely poorly done. I don’t think they’ve got anything right. Extremely disappointing given that the original one in New York is actually good.
