About

The Marq provides a unique, well executed approach to locally sourced seasonal products, with rotating menus and approachable, knowledgeable staff

Story

We opened The Marq in April 2015 with one goal in mind: to share our passion for fresh, local food with our beloved hometown community. How do we do it? It’s simple. We buy real food directly from people we know that grow, catch, or pick it. Why? Why hassle with the limited availability of local produce? Why update our menu after weekly trips to the farmers market? Because fresh food tastes better and is better for you. When food is frozen, processed, and shipped across the country it loses flavor and nutrients. When you buy local, direct from farmers, the nutrients that come from the earth show up on your plate. Buying direct from UP farms, bakeries, and breweries bolsters the local economy and eliminates unnecessary packaging and shipping. Since our food is locally-sourced we offer what’s in season: vegetable-forward, lighter dishes in spring and summer and braised meats, root vegetables and hand-rolled pasta in fall and winter. Food from scratch that’s good for our community, our carbon footprint and our bellies? That’s the mission of the Marq!

The Atmosphere was a bit on the loud side, but one night and one table of patrons doesn't totally kill the evening. The food was good, small portions left me wanting more, the Lake Trout was very well prepared, but like I said , about half the serving I am accustomed to for the price. The staff was very friendly and responsive . If the portions were bigger and maybe charged the same or a little more for it, I would have been okay with it. Just never like leaving a place hungry. The menu was a little different. Being out of 3 of the 4 choices I was interested in. Maybe a better night would have persuaded me to give a better review, but I likely won't be going back for a while. Again, very nice place, very nice staff.

The best places are the most popular. Dispite the busyness of the evening the service was still good. The food was fresh, delicious and pretty unique. Wonderful libations. Will go back

Absolutely amazing! So proud that a place like this exists in Marquette. We had the beat and smoked salmon salad (was amazing!) and the pork belly ramen. The staff was great and very knowledgeable. Chef Austin sure has passion and you can taste it in his food. I promise you will not be disappointed.

The French fries USED to be good. Some poorly trained staff. Some nice staff. Because of the farm-to-table concept, they run out a lot!
