The Middlebury Inn is a lovely historic building and establishment. The wedding reception meals were okay, and the rehearsal dinner was mediocre. Todd, the host, was very present during the whole ceremony and process. He met some challenges as they had staff changes. I would say that there are some organization issues, and the need to input better policies regarding their accounting. Be aware that if there are any issues with your billing that Geoff, the manager, uses  Bully tactics to solve issues. They lost a check for payment for the rehearsal dinner and waited 4 months until after the wedding to address it, then tried to bully us into payment. As far as location, I give it 4 stars, food 3, and staff 3.  It is a lower costing venue that you will find, but I guess you get what you pay for. If you can take heed to the warnings, you will have a fabulous event.

We had delicious food and appreciated the good deal of variety on the menu.  We visited on a Saturday evening,  and it was fairly quiet; we got a lovely widow seat.   The dessert (an apple sauce cake) was a tasty finish.  The only complaint was that the service was slow,  which was odd, considering how few other guests there were on the night of our visit.  Otherwise,  it was a great experience.

Right in the middle of town with plenty to do in walking distance. It has the charm of a historical building but the amenities are constantly being updated and improved. They have a tea time which is nice to sip tea on the front porch and people watch. Each room seems to have It's own characteristics and personality.  The perfect solution to staying somewhere that seems sterile and cookie cutter like a lot of big chains seem like these days.

Excellent room with all the things you would expect. The rooms all have the charm of a historic place and there are antique items, drawings and pictures all throughout the building. Not to mention complimentary cookies in the afternoon. I mean come on...

We love the Inn's history that prevails in the decor here, and the ease to walking downtown Middlebury. Had a nice room in the annex - recently updated and clean. Very good dinner on the outdoor veranda (where President Calvin Coolidge is pictured in a photo in lobby). Would definitely recommend!
