As a Chinese American, I never thought I would taste such authentic Chinese food in New York… but they did not disappoint! I was jaw dropped at how well cooked everything was. The meat was perfect texture that melted on the tongue, the dumplings were juicy, and the bao was soft and savory. This is true Chinese soul food. Plus, the service was so friendly and caring! The atmosphere is small but comfy and cute. Definitely coming back soon.
Ate the following items - all with medium spice: Traditional Stir Fry with #1 noodles Traditional Stir Fry with rice Cumin Stir Fry with rice Curry Stir Fry with #2 noodles Cumin Soup with #2 noodles Beijing Bolo with #1 noodles Dapan Zhu with ribbon noodles I enjoyed everything except the Beijing Bolo. Personally I found it to be lacking in flavor, it was very mildly sweet. I also personally did not enjoy the cumin soup mainly because I have to cook the soup in my own pot. The broth and noodles are packaged separately and I am too lazy to cook so I just poured them into a bowl and started eating and the noodles were stiff. The price for my laziness My favorite is the Dapan Zhu. It's almost like a soup seeing how much thick sauce comes with it. The ribbon noodles are so big and perfect for capturing the spicy and flavorful sauce. It came with big bell peppers that were marinated in the sauce and cooked to softness, so delicious to eat. The pork was like a big slice of pork belly, cooked so tender with meat and fat falling apart. I wonder how it would be with rice?
I got delivery and it was so quick, and I can’t believe how good it is. The dumpling wrappers are so fresh and the perfect thickness, are cooked perfectly. Lots of juicy flavorful pork inside. The broth is incredible, and so complex and flavorful, spicy tangy and rich. Delicious fresh scallions and cilantro. The scallion pancakes are perfectly crisp. Can’t wait to try more of the menu.
Use to order from this place because food is actually good but they will skimp on the quantity of food by as much as half. I tolerated that until I actually went in to pickup yhe order and realized how unsanitary the kitchen and their cooks are, digging in garbages and working without gloves caught on video. Do yourself a favor and don't eat from here. Edit they want me to post the footage but I cant upload videos however, I uploaded a picture of one the employees right after they were sorting through a garbage with their hand. Eat at your own risk.
The food quality was terrible . I ordered the noodle stir fry with beef. I couldn’t eat any of the beef at all it was all fat, and inconsistent. I had to separate it on a bowl. What a scamFood: 1/5
Pork bao was really delicious albeit overpriced so I can’t hate but the scallion pancake i ordered was a travesty. They’re charging $6 for 10 cents worth of flavorless undercooked fried flour with almost no scallions in it and it was not good at all. You can go downtown to King Dumplings or Jin Mei to get a freshly made sesame pancake that’s much better than this and it only costs $1.50. Or you can get a four pack of scallion pancakes from H-Mart for $4, and they’re much better than this. My advice to this restaurant is to get their scallion pancakes from somewhere else in the city or just use frozen ones because they’d be better than this.
The best hand pulled noodles in the city full stop. Legitimately better than 90% fair you would find in Asia. If you are a fan of spice and noodles this is a must visit and worth the trip to Harlem. Everything is worth trying. Even the basic stir fry beef knocks it out of the park. 10/10 noodles, 10/10 flavoring. The spice hits hard like it should! Very generous portions - but don’t skimp on the appetizers! Only downside is inside seating isn’t the most exciting. But what you get for lack of ambience you get back in authentic taste.
The spicy is proper spicy, but everything is so delicious. The noodles and dumplings were exceptional, and sauces were full of flavor. Orders could be customized to avoid things like cilantro and such.Food: 5/5
I’ve been a costumer here for a little while now and here and there they food quality is a bit inconsistent but this is my last straw. Found a worm in my food. Now reading other reviews, you can tell they have a bit of a health issue. Never againFood: 1/5
Actually, it was very disappointing. Not what I thought it would be after reading the reviews, and I was totally looking forward to it. I got 2 dishes $40 and neither one satisfied us . The dapan zhu had flavor but lacked in meat as it was all fatty pieces. The cumin soup is just a pass. Should’ve just went for stir fry dishes maybe would’ve been better.
