We vacationed in the area for 5 days and ate breakfast at Northern Pines 3 times - it was THAT good! Friendly wait staff. One of the locals told us it was one of the best restaurants in town for dinner as well, but we only got to eat breakfast there. I had the Crepes Florentine twice and my husband had the Veggie Omelet twice. Fabulous!

Breakfast and lunch was great. We sat in the bar for dinner that night and it went downhill fast. I asked for hot tea and the water was served already poured into a cup . It was lukewarm at best. I had the waitress return it for a HOT cup of water. I then ordered the pork chops for dinner. Again it was served almost warm/cold and one bite that I took actually was frozen. I returned again the dish and asked for hot edible food. Even the rice side dish was cold and unfavorable . The pork chops had no flavor or seasoning. The cook actually brought out my second (hot) plate and this time the pork chops were hot, but DRY, not seasoned and terrible. The wild rice again was awful. Stick to breakfast and lunch at this place! My friend also said her food was not tasty at all, but she was hungry and ate it anyway.

Food and waitstaff were great! Stopped for breakfast and had a wonderful omelet! Another in our party wanted something more towards lunch and ordered a salad that didn't disappoint in both size and taste! The chef even made his rounds and asked how everything was. Nice and clean with plenty to choose from on the menu and a friendly waitstaff that takes care of you!

Good food, decent service. Small inconsistencies keeps me from rating a 5. My wife and I visited here and we both ordered a biscuit and gravy side. Her gravy was in a cup and mine came on top of the biscuit. She asked for more coffee and the waitress filled my cup but not hers. Had to flag the waitress down for a refill for my wife. The biscuit was fluffy and the gravy was good. My Southwest Chicken Fried Steak was good. Her Corned beef hash was good.

Had a very nice dinner here, and breakfast the next morning. TIP: Specially priced ($7) hearty breakfast available for guests of the neighboring Day's Hotel. Nicely decorated restaurant in a woodsy theme, and the music isn't so loud you can actually hear one another speak. Best thing: they actually listen to and heed your requests. I asked for a patty melt served protein style (using lettuce vs a bun) and it came with a nice thick layer of lettuce leaves on each side, so I could actually pick it up and eat it like a sandwich! Then this morning I asked for extra crispy bacon and you guessed it, I actually received extra crispy bacon. What a refreshing change from chain restaurants!
