I love this school so much. Everyone is like a family to me. I was in orchestra for 3 years and I'm planning on going back for high school.

Our family is very appreciative to be part of the OCSA family. It's a supportive and nurturing environment that is run by a caring and competent staff.

Truthfully, I love OCSA with all my heart. The upsetting part is that the school isn't changing for the better which is causing a lot of kids to be distracted in a negative manner. If things went back to the way they were before, almost everybody would LOVE OCSA. Besides that, the school allows you to be whoever you'd like to be; it's very comforting for the student to feel accepted for who they are. The Band, Creative Writing, Visual Arts, Vocal, Dance departments are phenomenal. I feel that Orchestra, Drama, and Tech theater could be SO much better. I recommend coming to OCSA if you're willing to do your art area as a career; otherwise, steer clear if academics are your main focus, that's what the IB program is for (CHS and GHS). I love OCSA though because I feel supported as a musician and allowing me to perfect my craft. Also I love the student-ran events

When I began to get beat at KMS, my mom considered that perhaps this school would be a great opportunity for me since I was concentrating in arts for a few years. The moment we walked inside I was given the run around. They didn't even look at my portfolio and had me out the door. Don't take your kids to a school that discriminates.

While the school has a variety of different things and you get to make a lot of friends, the administration and teachers are...terrible. Now I knew this place wasn't going to be like the show Victorious, but what I didn't know that there would be pressure upon you. They want you to focus more on academics rather than your art, which I can understand. But, to be clear, it's a school for the ARTS. You might as well call this school a regular school with more pressure and stress. I don't like the fact that it has hour-and-a-half classes, allow immature middle school kids and that the teachers are very antsy on some details. For example, when I was ready to go to Disney's Candlelight at Epcot for a performance, the chorus teacher stopped me because I had very dark brown knee-high socks instead of black socks. Not all of us can afford things. I got angry because your socks won't be noticeable when you're wearing black pants with a robe that covers your ankles. Also, the chorus teacher is very strict and can be very rude at times. I was actually a freshman attending this school last year, but left to go back to my zoned high-school, and I'm glad. I didn't even have that high-school experience there at OCSA either. They also want you to go to other people's art performances because "not enough people aren't showing up". Honestly, while I do think it should be good to go to someones performance, we all do have a life. And some kids have family and school things to do. And I hated how they turned up the pressure of stress that you NEED to go to someone's concert or festival to get a good grade. I find that very sneaky. While the school is very clean and open, it needs to be improved. Improve the administration and the attitudes of teachers, and lower the pressure of homework and projects. I'm never going back though. Hope this was helpful. This was from personal experience.
