A favorite haunt, this is the nations first modern art museum. Today I slipped in for the 30 minutes before close. I sat before four Rothko beauties, lingered on an Ansel Adams winter photo, peered from various corners on a landscape viewed from the painters window, and was startled to find a series on the great migration north. And there is so much more, thoughtfully hung. The cafe was hosting a private party and the gift shop had some lovely things, including some Kandinsky esque carpets and woven pillows.

Can't wait for the upgrades to the old house are complete. The new building had wonderful exhibits, and events for members. This art collection in the heart of Dupont Circle is a treasure.

I have never been here before going to see the Renoir exhibit recently, and now I'm very sorry I haven't been here more often. I understand that they are undergoing a major renovation and a lot of the usual space is not even open, but the space that is open now is just beautiful. The Renoir exhibit, which gathers together work related to his "Boating Party" masterpiece, and them culminates in viewing that work, is amazing. Highly recommend for anyone, regardless of how much they know about modern art.

Nicely curated permanent collection and wonderful exhibitions. Additionally, there is a Tryst cafe on the premises and a very good gift shop. It's also a close walk to Dupont Circle and the Metro station.

Excellent art gallery. Easy to find from metro. Easy to navigate within the gallery. Well displayed, spaced and lit. Timed tickets ensure it is not overcrowded. Renoir and Friends exhibit with focus on the Luncheon of the Boating Party was extremely well done. Colorful and educational.
