Our family of four new to canoe wanted to experience the beauty of Algonquin regional park as well as get some little knowledge of how to paddle, good habits when using a canoe. We booked a half-day trip with the portage store : we wish we could do that sooner. Our guide, Jake, took good care of our group, had nice stories to tell and gave us good advice not to get into the water. That was a GREAT experience. Thanks to you guys, specially to you, Jake.

We did a 5 day back-country trip. Coming here is easy and convenient. Permit building is adjacent. They have carbon fibre canoes for rent. These only weigh 33 pounds so you can fly! Organized and friendly staff, but sometimes a hefty lineup even when you have reserved. Gets crowded so build in time for this.

Fantastic location, right on Canoe lake and access to plenty of local lakes and portage locations. Friendly staff with excellent and efficient customer service -- really love the fact that they're all outdoors people and have passion for the parks and recreation. Thanks for all your help, really made my time in Algonquin special.

It has what you need from a wilderness outfitter, including a good selection of canoes for rent. The store downstairs sells some equipment and supplies, such as freeze-dried food packs, etc. The store upstairs is mostly a gift shop. The restaurant is a let down. While they have a big assortment of burgers and other fast food, their selection of healthier items is limited. Furthermore, the burgers don't offer much in terms of customisation (such as white vs wholewheat buns). Lastly, the food is incredibly overpriced. They're really milking their captured audience. Two veggie burgers (with cheese, which is extra) without combos came to about $20, and they were pretty flimsy. What I'm trying to say: don't go here for the food.

There was a very patient and exceedingly helpful person at the store where one books guided tours. His advice was better than anyone at the Westgate tourist office. They matched our timeline, expected weather, what we had already done and 'wants'.
