About

Welcome to the Louisiana State Museum's Facebook page. Nine museums - one incredible state.

Story

New Orleans' most prominent heritage attraction is the Louisiana State Museum, a complex of national landmarks housing thousands of artifacts and works of art reflecting Louisiana's legacy of historic events and cultural diversity.

The Museum operates five properties in the famous French Quarter: the Cabildo, Presbytere, 1850 House, Old U.S. Mint and Madame John's Legacy. Other museums around the state include the Louisiana State Museum - Patterson in Patterson, Louisiana State Museum - Baton Rouge, the E.D. White Historic Site in Thibodaux, and the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame & Northwest Louisiana History Museum in Natchitoches.

We went through the Katrina exhibit and it opened my eyes to exactly what the people of New Orleans went through. Very well put together with multimedia displays and props. I highly recommend it if you have a few days to spend in the city.

Very informative and nice to walk around! You can see the Katrina exhibit below, the Mardi Gras exhibit on the second floor. The costumes were so cool to see!!! If you go, get the pass to see the Cabildo as well to save a few bucks :)

The Hurricane Katrina exhibit was done very well. The design and arrangement of artifacts was continuously engaging. On a more festive note, upstairs there is a Mardi Gras exhibit with costumes and paraphernalia.

The location is very scenic, which is nice. But the hurricane Katrina exhibit itself is worth the price of admission. I learned a lot of things that I didn't know prior to visiting.
