The Shanty Café is a casual dining restaurant and catering business located at 6B Central Street in the heart of beautiful downtown Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
We focus on serving great meals that are flavorful and affordable. Featuring a variety of dishes inspired by
local and international cuisine, this is the perfect location for a relaxing breakfast, a delicious lunch or just a friendly gathering.

The Shanty Café is a Social Enterprise. Our parent company is the Yarmouth Association for Community Residential Options (YACRO)
Our mission? To bring authentic, real food to our community, providing meaningful jobs for people who face barriers to employment.

The food was great. We saw a turkey dinner on Facebook. Yummy but could not order for supper as they ran out. Ordered the ham dinner as shown with two big slices of ham. Seems they ran out as all the ham was leftover scraps. They made that look nice but left us feeling hungry. They had a sign outside their door with a chicken dinner or a rap. The waitress cam back to say no more chicken dinners left so all she could get is a rap.

Great family cafe. I recommend this place to my friends that visit Yarmouth. The fare is tasty and well prepared. If you have a hankering for Cuban food this place will satisfy your craving.

I was a bit nervous coming here as a vegan.  However, I was pleasantly surprised. I ended up getting the Indian Beet Salad and adding the Garbanzo Flats on top for some extra spice and protein. It was delicious and (Matt) who served us was great at answering all of my questions! Not to mention the kitchen staff member who brought out my samosa noticed it wasn't up to par and immediately took it away and brought a better (less greasy) one! Attention to detail is very important.  I would highly recommend it to any vegans or otherwise that are travelling through the area.

The menu is fantastic, there is so much to choose from, especially if you have specific dietary requirements. The food is DELICIOUS. Every time I have come here the food has not disappointed. I also cannot say enough about how friendly the staff are, and the music is fantastic. The prices are also superb.

I highly recommend trying this place at least once, there's something for everyone!

I keep coming back here every time I'm in town.

The people working were so friendly! They went out of their way to check if the veggie options could be made vegan. The food was healthy, and they brought out literal recipe books for everything from my burger to the bread it was on. Fresh fresh fresh.
