The Station Grille
"Fred Harvey revolutionized railroad dining by opening one of his restaurants in the Terminal Hotel at St. Louis Union Station. In order to provide efficiency, the travelers ordered while still on board the train, and then the orders were wired to the restaurant manager, so that people could come in, sit down and enjoy a meal, and be on their way with as little time and hassle as possible. The most essential part of Fred Harvey’ success, as well as the most popular feature of his restaurants were the Harvey Girls, who greeted and tended to patrons with classic Midwestern manners and hospitality. Fred Harvey’s restaurant is now the Station Grille, which is located in the Union Station Hotel"

I absolutely love Union Station. You can go to any restaurant in here and have a great time. The main bar area in the Grand Hall is top notch. The Whispering Arch is also historically interesting and is a must to see. I met a few old coworkers there to reminisce and catch up since they were from out of town, and I’m glad we did because I had forgotten that we have this lovely gem we have in St. Louis, Missouri. We just ordered drinks, but their food menu looked pretty good for the Station Grille. They lower the lights at a certain time for the ambience and then they display this quick light show and music as a way of switching things up. Whoever thought of this on their management team or marketing team should be commended. I know they’ve been doing it for a while, but it is such a cool thing to see. Great place.
What a great experience. We ate breakfast and had the complete breakfast buffet!. Everything that you could want, perfectly cooked with an excellent atmosphere and impeccable service. I can't wait to go back.Food: 5/5
The food quality was above and beyond what we expected. The Burger and toasted Ravioli were excellent. The light show that happens every hour at the top of the hour was beautiful. Our service was excellent but the kitchen does take their time, but with the light show and great drink selection, absolutely worth a wait. plan to take your time and enjoy. Kid-friendliness: Lots of space, low seating, and plenty of distractions.
It goes without saying that the atmosphere here is amazing if not simply for the fact that it’s in an old train station with at least some original interior decorations and flourishes intact. It’s a lovely setting for a restaurant. What really impressed was the staff, who were remarkably upbeat, friendly, and accommodating. They clearly take pride in their service. The service fit the setting… 10/10. And the dining selection was better than I would have expected as well. I would recommend checking it out if you’re staying at the hotel.
WOW!x3. Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Though the actual Grille seating was not available because of low patronage, this actually was the right move as I was able to dine at the Grand Hall. Ordered the filet that came with perfectly cooked broccoli and potatoes au gratin that were different but good. Enjoyed dinner and a show...a light show to be more precise. Definitely an experience and should you find yourself in St. Louis, a must.
Very cool classic dining experience. Stopped in for breakfast before we headed out for the day. Classic breakfast options on the menu otherwise they have a buffet with an omelet bar. Such a delicious meal and awesome experienceFood: 5/5
I had a dinner and a beer at the bar, so your results may vary. Overall I really enjoyed the food and the decor was to be expected with a place like Union Station. I had the quinoa bowl, and it was definitely worth the price, and was actually one of the best vegetarian meals I’ve had downtown. I’d easily come back sometime for a more formal dinner, and possibly when there isn’t a wedding also going on. Overall, definitely a place to try if you live downtown, and if you’re visiting the city for a couple days, it’s not a bad spot to spend the evening if you wanna stay in for the night.
Communication! Communication! Communication! Host seated a table of 2 before us and gave them breakfast menus, then without ANY words he "seated" us guided and used hand gestures at a table then proceeded to have a semi-heated conversation with another server before walking away with our menus. Went and got a menu, then a server came by and told us the restaurant switches to breakfast buffet ONLY at 1030am it was 1030 when we were seated. ZERO mention of this anywhere, not in the welcome letter from the hotel which states "breakfast until 11am", not posted at the restaurant, and nothing said by the Host. The "buffet" consisted of the same stuff offered at the free continental breakfast and had likely been sitting out all morning. Hard pass.
The Brunch here is amazing only $19 per person kids under 10 eat free love this place Kid-friendliness: Kids eat free
Good hotel restaurant. A little over priced, but your are paying for all the decor and the nice atmosphere there. The venue is absolutely beautiful.
