Tonight was our third evening at The Taj Cafe— we came two nights in a row the first weekend we discovered it, a few months ago, then tonight we brought three Pakistani grad students to dinner here, hoping they would enjoy it like a taste of home.

They loved it, but said it was a bit different from how the same dishes might be prepared in Pakistan. Still, the Lamb Makhani was a favorite, and when the host brought out complimentary rice puddings for dessert, our female guest nearly wept with happiness, it was so good.

As usual we ordered too much and are going home with no fewer than four boxes of leftovers. But we are thrilled— our Taj experience will stretch out over one whole day tomorrow!

Thank you, Taj chefs and service staff, for another delightful experience! We look forward to coming back next weekend with grad students from India this time!

This place is a must go if you are in the area. The food is fresh and full of flavor. The atmosphere and service is great but the food is outstanding. The tandoori chicken is cooked perfectly and may be the best I have had so far.

Amazing food and service. Will definitely return in the (very near, hopefully) future.

This Indian restaurant is outstanding!!! The food is so fresh you cant imagine. I travel a lot and eat indian food everywhere i go. During my stay in Port Hueneme Naval Base, this the best option i found for this area. The buffet is the best. Very go9d selection. The ginger lemonade was fantastic drink.

My favorite Indian Restaurant in Ventura!  Varied vegan-friendly lunch buffet.   Staff is very generous--often adding something to your meal--taking into account what you have picked from the buffet or menu.  Outdoor seating available as well as two private window seats that are fun.  Right on Main Street, Taj is one of Ventura's mainstay restaurants.
