Went to see High on Fire show. The staff were very polite and knowledgeable with the couple of questions I had. The acoustics of the venue are excellent. Great location for public transit users, only a 5 minute walk from the downtown Berkeley BART station. Added bonus of many good restaurants in the area to go to either before or after the show. They have coat check available for $3 cash or $4 credit/debit card. You can buy alcohol, soft drinks and some food. The show was awesome! My friends and I had a blast! Highly recommend this business.
What a great place for a show! I’ve been twice, for The Amity Affliction and Baroness. Limited seating but if you get there early you’re golden. The venue is part of a training program for a cohort of university kids learning how to run all aspects of the venue and putting on performances, which is such a fantastic idea! Three bars with excellent service. Clean and safe. Parking is right around the block in a garage. I highly recommend it!
If you are short and the shows going to be crowded, good luck. Best to come early and get to the front of one of the teirs or get down to the bottom area where you can look up at the stage. Really not a good design for music concerts per crowd set up or acoustics. There is a parking garage near by, if you don't want to pay you have to search forever cause it's Berkeley downtown. Pretty large venue and the is a bar on the middle teir and the back one. People were actively standing in the areas marked off for people to walk, so getting around was impossible and the employees bringing drinks to people were actively blocked by attendees in the wrong spots. At one point ab employee told my friends and I we could stand by the bar at the front of the teir cause they were closing, wasnt in the way, and we were short. 5 mins later we were yelled at by another employee for standing their?! So seems to be run very disorganized.
For a guy that loves a seat with a great view of all the festivities, this was perfect. Get there a little early and you'll have a front row, elevated seat to observe the madness unfolding in front of you!
Great acoustics and lighting. Definitely a fun venue. Hope to come back again.
Saw Dresden Dolls for New Years Eve and had a blast. There were plenty of bars available so there were no long waits. Bathroom was clean and lines weren't too bad. Parking close by and neighborhood feels safe.
We saw a mid-week show here and it was very smooth and drama free. The staff were pleasant and welcoming at the bar and at the door. Place wasn't too crowded at all. It was a nice mix of people surprise to see so many young teenagers. Maybe they are a part of the training program that they have, which is a wonderful thing to support with your dollars.
Always a great experience at this theater. I got to see one of my favorite bands finally, Altin Gün. In early 2020 I had a great experience and got to see Metronomy. I love that it's not a giant venue and I get to see bands I love from other countries with a more intimate vibe.
The set up in this theatre was great! I went to see Tribal Seeds and the entrance is pretty cool with lots of photos. Seating was limited but arranged perfectly. There is a coat check in bar in the lower level by the stage and in the upper level by the seating. The floor space provided plenty of room and the acoustics in the theatre were great. Really nice venue and the show... well that's an entirely separate review on its own but it was AMAZING! had a great time and I'd definitely return to this venue.
Second show here and it never ceases to amaze me how awesome the staff is. I'm three months pregnant, but didn't call ahead to make reservations in the ADA section. Anywhere else and it would be a problem, but a nice employee named Monica immediately hooked us up with a comfortable spot. Then came the pizza and diet coke from our friendly waitress. The lighting and sound engineers did a great job tonight too. Although we were sitting on the third tier, I was able to see the stage pretty well. This is due to the three ascending platform of seating and standing room. Lots of bars so lines weren't long. Another plus is that they keep their restrooms clean and we'll stocked! Keep up the great work UC Theatre:
