Story

The Vendue is a combination of two unique boutique hotels – 19 Vendue and 26 Vendue – located across the street from one another. 19 Vendue is housed within five historic warehouses dating back to 1780 that have been combined to form one hotel. 26 Vendue is a combination of two historic warehouses dating back to the 1800s. Due to the historic nature of the buildings, no two rooms are alike and each is decorated with different period reproduction furnishings or true antiques.

The Vendue was renovated and "reborn" in 2014 to create Charleston's first and only hotel dedicated to the arts – in all forms. Over 300 pieces of original art have been installed for our guests to enjoy. Our main exhibition space covers the entire public spaces of 19 Vendue. Additional installations are on display in all guestroom corridors, the public areas of 26 Vendue, and within our Gallery guest rooms.

The Vendue also offers two distinct dining experiences for guests: The Drawing Room and The Rooftop.

Wonderful hotel in the French Quarter! This is a great location to base your trip and as first time visitors, we were glad to have such a central location. The staff is wonderful and friendly and the fact that there's original art throughout the hotel as well as two galleries just adds to the charm of this beautiful set of buildings. Our first room we were given had a terrible view of power generators. So we asked for a second room. It was a little better but not great. That said, the room, while small, was cozy and clean. The furniture was handsome and the pillows were divine. The queen size bed felt a tad small for the two of us but we're used to a king bed. The Drawing Room is a great place to have breakfast and the prices are very reasonable, not your typical ripoff hotel rates. We also liked the free coffee in the nearby coffee shop on premises you get as a guest plus the rooftop deck is pretty amazing. Oh, and did I forget to mention the baked cookies they set out at night? All in all, this is a wonderful place and we would gladly come back in the future!

The hotel in one sense is lovely, but the rooms are very small and cramped. The beds are considered queen, but ours couldn't be any larger than a full- we have a queen bed at home and this bed was much smaller. The building is historic, which is great and adds beauty, but you can hear EVERYTHING through the paper thin walls- and being by the elevator does not help. For what we are paying for this hotel, it'd be great to not be in a cramped room with people being loud in the hallways and with it constantly being an annoyance. The hotel staff is very friendly though and has tried their best to accommodate us, which I appreciate, but as a couple on our honeymoon, this hotel is not what we expected from what was seen online and we decided to only stay one night. I definitely recommend going up to the rooftop bar, though!

Excellent hotel. It's like staying in an art gallery. Clean modern hotel with a friendly staff. They had free wine and hors d'oeuvre s for happy hour and free milk and cookies for the kid's at night. There was a lot of nice touches you don't see from most hotels. Great location. We will be back.

Very well taken care of during our stay. The artwork is captivating, unique yet sublime. We weren't as delighted with the in-house food.
