So, being new to the area and feeling out new restaurant options, I was anxious to try this recommendation from friends. Decor and ambiance is nice--upscale casual. Ordered a glass of Malbec...it was clearly from a bottle that had been opened awhile back and the wine had turned/soured. Explained problem to the young waiter and ordered another variety which was fine. Wife ordered steak: medium-rare. It came to table and entire center was raw/blue. So she was without food for 10-15 minutes. I ordered Seafood Tortellini: the tortellini were WAY overcooked and, combined with an Alfredo sauce suffering from way too much seafood stock, the dish came off tasting like Chicken and Dumplings. When it came time to pay the check, the manager came over to inform us that the wine would be comped, so at least they were aware of the shortcomings of our experience. Doubt we'll be back tho--overall, unimpressive.

Go in casual or dressed up, either way seems ok here. Claude was our waiter and was very attentive, knew answers to everything we asked him. 
A little on the pricey side, but the food lived up to the expectation. They make a great gin & tonic as well, could use a few more local brews like lazy magnolia (since the founders are State grads) or other regional favorites. The Veranda is worth the trip, we'll be back.

We had some amazing food!!   The wait staff was great as well.  Busy Sunday, but food was served timely.   Chicken and Dumplings, turnip greens,
Mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, catfish, cinnamon roll,  gumbo.   All good!  Then the desserts, blackberry cobbler with ice cream and chocolate spoon cake, very dense and very GOOD!
