Based on my first visit, I will give this place a 3.5 stars. For the positive, the services was great. However, when I told my server that the cocktail I order was not tasting good and that it would go better with another bourbon, rather than offering to change, he just said, maybe you order another one. That was not a great start although he recovered for the rest of the meal. As an appetizer we ordered a paella salad, which had the rice undercooked. The rest of the meal was good but not memorable, which was not good for us as we heard this is one of the best places in Sac. Plus, the quality did not match the bill. Is not about the money, but when the food is not to standard but expensive, that does not seat well with me. Perhaps our expectations were too high. Perhaps we got them in an off day. Nonetheless, I will try this place again in the eventually of the off day and with lower expectations.

Pink lady cider, Corti Bros Sherry Cask Special 7yr Whiskey, Duck Breast, Pork Belly. We went because a lot of staff took vacation this week and they closed for lunch instead of taxing their staff to cover. I respected it so much that I made sure that I came out for my son’s very first special dinner at a fancy restaurant.

Great service, excellent food! Went here for an anniversary dinner, they surprised us with glasses of sparkling wine before our meal & a scoop of pomegranate Italian ice after. Definitely coming back here.

I had never even heard of The Waterboy, but strong reviews prompted us to go. Wow. Just wow. Excellent service quick bussing of tables, replacing of silverware, an extremely attentive and also situationally aware waiter as well as super good food definitely has added this establishment to our favorites. Thank you for a great night out!  P.S. people complain about the prices, but probably forget that we experienced a 7.5% rise in inflation in 2021. They’re fair prices.

Always known of The Waterboy, but never been. So glad I went because wonderful restaurants like this are disappearing. My wife and I had to order 3 entrees because we HAD to! So happy we did because each dish was amazing. Our service honestly was just as good if not better than the food. And that's only because you'll wind up wishing you had a bigger portion though there's no problem with their portions. I honestly can't wait to go back

This place is so wonderful. Food is great. Limited menu but still various options to choose from. Lots of drinks. They have seasonal menu items. The interior design is beautiful. The ambience and staff are my favorite things about this restaurant. For these two reasons I have been here multiple times.

I finally had the time to come eat here!   Beers tasted great! I had Oriole pick them and had plenty of fun going from a clueless pedestrian of spirits & wines to enthusiastic beer guzzler. My rare steak came out w/ decent sear. I got the marinated olives and a taster plate of beers too.  Great service, disarmingly good food!

The food was a bit underwhelming for the price. I'll start off with the good: the service was nice, the wine selection were bountiful, and the steak tartare and pickled beets salad were good as starters but nothing too spectacular. Now the bad: for entrees, we ordered the Waterboy cassoulet, NYC steak medium rare, rigatoni bolognese, and fish of the day halibut. The cassoulet was oversalted and the meats in there were overcooked. The NYC steak had a lot of tendon in it and it was super hard and chewy for a medium rare steak. The halibut portions were small and the flavors were a bit bland. Overall, I'm a bit disappointed with the food considering this is one of the best in Sacramento.

All the dishes we tried were top quality. The tartar was on-point with a greatly executed aioli. Beet salad was something out of this world with flavor profiles only tasted here. Risotto was filled with umami and floral notes you get from saffron. Even the simple spaghetti took me back to Roma.Food: 5/5
