About

Great View. Good Food. Lousy Service.

Story

Casual waterfront restaurant on Lake Talquin named by the locals as "The Whip". featuring fresh local grilled and sauteed seafood, hand cut steaks, and a selection of salads & sandwiches. No Fryers. We serve craft beers and good wine. The sunsets alone are worth the trip. Sorry only one show daily.

You walk through a bait shop to get to the restraunt. Don't let it put you off. Food is outstanding. Limited menu, but everything is good and it changes regularly. Craft beers and a good wine list. Funky atmosphere. Dine inside, or outside and watch the sunset over the lake.

Unique eclectic place. Minimal seating. Tasty thick pork chop was phenomenal. Great lakeside ambience.

Unbelievably good steak dinner! So tender and juicy. Good service too.

Attempted to dine here last night. We came up with a large group of 8, and had called ahead as a courteousy to let them know. We were excited to eat here, as we had heard great things. We grabbed 4 spots at a tiny bar type counter on the back deck to take in the view and regroup. A waiter came out shortly after to bus an empty table, and offered to sit the remainder of our party at the table. It meant splitting up our group, but we were all hungry and agreed. Sometime later a different person (we assume the GM, but he never identified himself), came by and asked us if we "just sat down here" or if we were seated by the hostess. We explained that the waiter who was zipping around had told us to sit here. We were told that we couldn't sit here because the hostess hadn't seated us, and waiter didn't know what he was talking about. He offered to put our names on the list, saying that it wouldn't be long because the people waiting wanted to be seated inside. 30 minutes later half of our party has drinks and is still sitting, half is standing and waiting on the deck. Apparently there are places you can "just sit" and places you can't. Really, we would have been fine if there had been any effort to explain to our group our seating options. We wouldn't have minded the wait if we had been asked in a more courteous way. An apology for a mistake made by the staff would have gone a long way. The sign out front says "great food, good view, lousy service" and that seems about right. Can't comment on the food as our experience was totally ruined by the rude staff. Won't return.
