Went to the zoo for the first time ever with my husband and it was awesome! They have so many interesting animals and I learned a ton reading all of the descriptions. Definitely recommend a visit if you haven't been yet.

Worst customer service experience ever! We are a Event/Decorating Company that tried to book Stacey Young, the owner, for a HUGE corporate event where over 500 children would be showing up to, as this was an employee appreciation rodeo! After leaving numerous messages on an answering machine, she never actually returned my call, but left me instead a 5 page email. After we decided we would hire her (we were paying her a nice amount to come to this event) We sent out a few checks at the same time to other vendors for this event, some vendors that were very close to where Stacey was located in Brentwood, CA. Oddly enough, every other vendor received our check for the deposit, however, she did not. We were starting to get worried that her services for the event were in jeopardy because this deposit was never cashed. We then emailed her a credit card authorization form, and on it specifically stated that we were only authorizing her to run the DEPOSIT amount on this credit card. Per her request, she asked we pay her half before the event to reserve her time, and then the day of the event to give her the rest in the form of a check.Within this same email, I asked her to please be there to set up for the event, around 8 am- and asked her to be fully set up by 11 am which is when the event was to start. To my utter astonishment and surprise, she then sent an email back to me stating that due to the "strict timeline" requirements she was cancelling on us! She was "not going to show up for 4 hours and not get paid for it"! We only needed her for 4 hours for the event from the get go.In a prior email she had stated that she could not come to set up the night before her event, because this would have been to hard on her babies. We completely understood her concern, we wanted her animals and staff to be as comfortable as possible. We then offered a second set up option, which was her to come and set up the morning of the event. How asking her to be set up by 11 am by the time the event is opening, is found to be "too strict of a timeline."After her cancelling on us, we emailed her back asking her if we could then try to pay her in full for the event by credit card. We had advertised her appearance for this event for weeks leading up to this; she was the main attraction of the event. We expressed great concern over the fact that her cancelling on us a week before the event, now put our customers event in great jeopardy. We never cancel on our customers and were quite concerned that her lack of business etiquette and customer service skills could possibly make this a first. We never heard back from her again after she cancelled on us. We tried repeatedly to reach her and to try to work around whatever problem she was having to ensure she was still going to be able to come to the event. She never responded. We now wonder, if her stating that for weeks after the check was sent she never had mysteriously received it, was this possibly her out and bought her time to decide if she would actually do the event? In any case, she was incredibly difficult to get a hold of, it took multiple emails back and forth to simply get one answer from her, which at best most times was extremely vague, thus prompting the need for even more emails. I am all for email communication, but when you have an event of this magnitude and this extreme cost involved, sometimes you just have to pick up the phone and talk to people. We repeatedly offered her our cell phone numbers to call after hours, if this was easier for her. But never heard anything from her. In 25 years, we have never experienced such complete disregard for business ethics and customer service. My final thought on the matter is this. If she is willing to cancel on us a week before the event- and HUGE event where literally half a thousand children were going to be riding her ponies, petting her animals, providing countless opportunities for parents to get her information and book future parties with her, then imagine how quick she will cancel on you for your child's birthday party.

They arrived on time. The petting zoo handler was great with all the children and anwered all our questions. The pony handlers were very pleasant and made sure our little riders were safe and happy. Thank you for enhancing Stefan's(Birthday boy) party experience.

First I need to comment about the only other review listed from 3 years ago (1 review from everyone). It should go without saying that people who write reviews should obtain accurate information especially before they attempt to blemish or defame a person's character or businesses reputation. The person who wrote that review couldn't have been more WRONG! The owner of Tickle Me Pony Parties and Travelling Petting Zoo has two wonderful boys as children. She does NOT have a daughter! AND they do not offer or bring dogs to events. Therefore, the reviewer in all her wisdom LIED about what she observed OR she reviewed the wrong party company. With that said, why didn't the reviewer do anything about what they saw. It sounds like they stood by absent minded and did nothing. Tickle Me Pony Parties and Petting Zoo has been around for more than 20 years and has plenty of wonderful client testimonials and fabulous referrences. If your in the San Francisco Bay Area you will not find a company more honest, kind, and who has appreciation for animals in the business. You simply can't go wrong. Call Stacey, the owner and see how she can help make your event or celbration something to remembr for years to come. My party was FABULOUS. Stacey helped with all my questions (and worries) before my event. She really put me at ease and then delivered what she said she would bring. The ponies were brushed and clean and the petting zoo animals were friendly, cute and cuddable. Thank you Stacey!!!!

I recently experienced the petting zoo portion of tickle me pony parties at my company's corporate event. When I was there, I couldn't help but notice a young girl who was being very rough with the animals, and I kept looking for the girls parents to step in and do something. A coworker pointed out to me that this girl was the owner's daughter (this was the beginning of the summer, so I assume the mom didn't have child care for the girl--but kind of sticky for labor laws...) I was flabbergasted as I watched the girl pick up the chickens by one leg, drop the bunnies from waist height and similar. Also, the daughter kept shouting at the poor little dog. I assumed it was simply the girl's impatience in age, until I saw the mom and daughter gather the animals at the end of the event, both in the same rough manner. Several of my colleagues and I commented on how the mom and daughter packed a two little goats and a mini pig into a small crate that would be big enough for a small dog (these animals could NOT TURN AROUND OR SIT). The same happened with the chickens and the rabbits. A safe estimate would be that 15 animals fit into 3 crates that were not more than 16" high and 20" deep. While I'm not sure this qualifies as abuse (since I don't know the laws for petting zoos) it made me feel terrible for the animals. We were in Mountain View, and these animals were traveling back to Brentwood this way (that's 45min-1 hour)?! I'd never want my child to see this as an example of how to treat animals. The daughter shouldn't be working with the animals if she doesn't have the training or patience to do so (and she wasn't more than 9 years old), and the mom as a petting zoo owner should be providing a good example to both her own child and other children watching.
