Rich landlords with their expensive lawyers are frightening and intimidating. I didn't think I could afford to fight them. BELIEVE ME...you can't afford NOT to. The hourly rate might make your eyes water a bit but don't let that scare you. It's not that bad and worth every cent! Mr. Tobener is a fearless fighter and as smart as they come. He knows the laws concerning tenant rights. Every communication I sent to him received a response in a timely manner. Every time I would think 'I wonder what the progress is?' I'd get an email updating me. This work is intuitive for him. His staff is great too. My outcome was WAY better than I ever hoped for. I can't thank him enough. I would absolutely recommend him to any tenant in trouble.

This law firm is fantastic. They are ethical, fair and I felt like my case really mattered to them. They only charged for the work they did on the case (which ended up being way cheaper than a contingency fee). A live person always answers the phone, which I did not find to be the case at other firms I checked out. I worked with Jackie Ravenscroft on negotiating a buyout agreement after new owners bought my building, and she is amazing. She explained everything clearly, and made sure I understood what to expect. She always got back to me within 24 hours (often within an hour or two) whenever I had questions. She is caring, professional, and knows tenant law inside and out. Needing a lawyer is not a fun experience, but they took a lot of stress out of the process. I'm very happy with the outcome of my case, and they have my highest recommendation.

I found Tobener through a Google Search and was immediately impressed by their prompt, ethical and very professional response. I needed to get in touch with a lawyer immediately and Tobener worked with my schedule, time constraint promptly so I could come in on a short notice and meet Brian. Brian is an excellent resource for Tenant Law in CA. He advised me through a rather tricky situation involving multiple agreements and continued to take my questions even though it was outside his work portfolio. I am very grateful for Brian's support and highly recommend his services!

My experience with Joseph Tobener, and team, has been top notch, from start to finish -- even better than expected. Joe and the office staff set a warm and courteous, caring tone, and -- much to my amazement -- Joe personally responded to email inquiries I sent after normal business hours. Once my elder tenant parents decided to seek legal help with their situation, I did a fair amount of research, and upon our initial meeting with Joe, felt confident they would be represented by a very competent attorney with expertise in and a strong commitment to helping and representing tenants. My parents also felt relieved and optimistic after several months of stress. The result of the negotiations exceeded our expectations, and we are all incredibly grateful for the care along the way and the very positive outcome.
