Absolutely amazing experience, came here with three friends and asked the server if they’d be willing to just bring us an assortment of food to try everything. They were totally game and gave us one of the best restaurant experiences we’ve ever had. Everything was fresh, delicious, and explored a different combination and depth of flavors. A must try, and even during brunch we got to experience a wide pallet of flavour. Dietary restrictions: Were easily able to accommodate a nut free meal for us Parking: Lots of low cost garages nearby.
Enjoyable meal and welcoming atmosphere on a chilly evening. We had a vegetarian in our group of four and she loved everything. We appreciated that we could order the fried chicken and swap out one wing for a piece of fried cauliflower for her. Everyone is fresh and light. It’s like elevated Korean comfort food. We would love to try brunch. Vegetarian options: Vegetarians have plenty of choices, all good! It’s Portland after all.
A great spot for Korean fried chicken or little sandwiches. The staff were all very kind, though a bit slow. The food itself was well priced and very tasty. I recommend this spot and look forward to going back to try out a few more menu items. Update* I went back and definitely recommend the happy hour for the fries and rolls which were fantastic.
I absolutely would’ve given this four stars, but truly the only thing that made me want to give it 4 is because I ordered a brisket noodle dish, and it was not flavored at all. The broth was akin to colored water and the noodles had almost congealed at the point to where it was unappetizing. I tried a couple of bites, but ultimately there was more than enough broth to fill the dish, but the noodles absorbed a lot of it and it lacked flavor. The wings and boa burger however, were exceptional and next level with every bit of flavor and creativity the noodle dish lacked. Waitress was also fantastic and kind! Overall first time experience was great, but that noodle dish wasn’t what I had hoped it to be.
It was one of the best meal we had in downtown Portland. Food was delicious and I loved the modern Korean twist on every dish. Bibimbap needed more vegetables, so we requested and tasted so much better.Food: 5/5
My first time eating at Toki Restaurant was fantastic. The Bao Burger is All Beef, American Cheese, Onions, and Special Sauce in a Steamed Sesame Seed Bun and it tastes incredible. The Ches$y Corn is Charred Shishito, Mayo, Corn, Mozzarella, and Korean Peppers and it is pure comfort food. The French Fries were perfectly crispy and golden and had a delicious Ketchup. I was pleased that there was a Dark Beer on tap. I like supporting Woman-owned businesses and this is a Safe Space for everyone.
We loved everything we ordered. The bibimbap was my fave with crisped rice with beets and pork. We also ordered pork belly. It was still sizzling when it was brought to the table. The staff were attentive and multiple people checked on us during our meal.
We went for brunch and got the kimchi fried rice omurice and spicy fried chicken sandwich. We would like to try the dinner menu and check out more items. I wish the kimchi rice was a bit more kimchi-y but I understand that maybe it's an intro for folks so kept it lite. Service was a friendly. Prices were a little on the high end for what you get and portion size. Would try again though and try different items.
Chicken wings were really good but every other dish was absolutely off. The dumplings had this flavor that I just can’t understand and the hand pulled noodles dish was beyond off. Everything kinda Tasted the same with this weird Indian flavor and maybe some people like this but in my opinion as a Asian trained chef this place killed me. On the way to have a second dinner at the moment. If I was this shop I would stick to the wings and the chicken sandwich. I haven’t tried anything else. Oh and our experience with the waitress was absolutely worthy of a twilight zone episode. Place is cool. People are friendly. I’d only come Back for the fried chicken and the sandwich.
We had a great experience at Toki last night. My daughter and I were in town for a concert and ducked in from the great reviews but they were full for the night which is a great sign for a worthy place. While full for the night, Patrick and Lexi went to work work to create a small space for us as we offered to order take-away but they wanted to get us proper seating. So, hat tip to Patrick and Lexi and the entire service was excellent, and food very tasty and fun to explore with various dishes. No pretention whatsoever, just a hard-working business eager to have patrons be fed well and leave happy. We'll be back for sure!
