Tokyo Hot Chicken San Francisco
"Tokyo Hot Chicken is a pop-up from the culinary minds of Chef Michael Mina and MINA Group. Hot Chicken meets Japanese Karaage, Tokyo Hot Chicken is the best of two worlds, combining the Nashville Classic with Japanese flavors and ingredients. This unique concept delivers food that has bold flavors, and that is satisfying and crave worthy. The Tokyo Hot Chicken menu features buckets of chicken a mix of drums, wings, thighs; chicken tenders; and a hand-held togarashi chicken snacker served with a kimchi slaw and spicy kewpie. Tokyo Hot Chicken also offers a menu of signature dipping sauces, such as Chukka Tare with soy, sesame, chili; the Yum Yum Sauce."

Ordered to go and I think they over estimate when food is ready because it was kinda cold when I picked it up towards the earlier side of when the order confirmation estimate Everything was fine. Chicken sandwich and kaarage are fine like you can get anywhere else. Duck fat fries were cold but tasted fine as well. I'd give this place another try for fresher, hotter food
I wanted to like this place, but The Bird is still the best fried chicken sandwich in this area. The chicken here was dry, sauce lacked depth, and pickles were not marinated enough.
- Chicken was nice and crunchy even after getting it as delivery. The taste was pretty good. - Duck fat fries were pretty good and thick cut. - Broccoli was pretty good, but small potion. - We did not like any of the many sauces that it came with.. or the kimchi coleslaw. - The chicken had the spices just thrown on parts of the chicken leaving the rest untouched by the spices.
Solid start to some good food, just a bit more work on some of the smaller stuff for some consistency but overall solid! Highlights: The crispness of the skin is just right! The wasabi mashed potatoes are on point, in terms of flavor and smoothness $12.99 for four piece and a side is just right price! Improvement Needed: the seasoning is not even. One whole piece didn’t have any while the other had bits that were too salty I also ordered the honey sauce and I got a sauce that is basically a chipotle aioli , with no honey flavors.
Frankly, I think this is one of the best fried chickens and chicken deals in the city! Got a four piece chicken meal and one side of mashed potatoes for $12.99. It was fresh, juicy, and the right amount of spicy for my taste. I really think this is a perfect quarantine meal for two. And from a Michael Mina restaurant no less! However, if you have a heartier appetite, you might want to add a few more sides and/or order from the other Michael Mina pop-up restaurants operating out of Pabu. We ordered cocktails off the Bourbon Burger Bar menu and they were generous sizes and really good.
Underwhelming chicken sandwich. Some logistics details: order online and the food will be ready about 10 minutes before the listed time; pickup is basically outside the Pabu restaurant.
Delicious! Ordered a chicken sando through Uber eats and absolutely loved it. Perfectly cooked chicken, great seasoning and sauces.
Ordered a pickup through Doordash, took forever to confirm, was at the restaurant within 20 minutes of ordering, waiting outside for signal to pickup, 10 minutes later, still nothing. Went in to inquire, food had been sitting there getting cold, opened the bag, one item was missing. Took another 5 minutes to get the missing item. Was told manager would come out to chat, never came out. Finally got confirmation to pickup the order 25 minutes after I had picked it up. Food wasn't bad, but nothing special, a little pricey as well. If you want a great chicken sandwich, head to the bird a few blocks away, which is much better, cheaper and never any issues with the order.
OOOO! That's some moist chicken! The mochi-matcha waffles are a good consistency, light on the matcha flavour. The wasabi mashed potatoes are more potato with a mild, conservative suggestion of wasabi flavour, most people won't notice it. The duck fat fries have good taste, cut a little thicker, and come with three sauces: ranch-like I think the duck fat is in here, sweet miso BBQ, and possibly a cocktail sauce. This is the second restaurant I've had duck fat fries at and I'm still trying to figure out the duck fat. Overall, pretty good. The fried chicken is a safe bet. Pretty much guaranteed to be delicious. The accessory items are pretty mild and won't offend picky taste buds, but offer a gateway to trying new flavours.
The chicken sandwich and chicken & waffles matcha flavored are LIT. However, our duck fat fries were skinny cut instead of fat cut as described. Hope to get the fries done right next time!
