Was just in looking for a bottle of champaign. One guy working there was very kind and walked me to what I was looking for. I stayed awhile checking prices and saw that some were on sale, and some were lower prices only if you were a rewards member. I picked a bottle out that was specifically on sale after I checked the price card carefully and went to the counter. Right as I got to the counter the lady ringing me up said she needs to sign me up as a rewards member before we can get started. I said no thanks, and she said she can only give me the sale price if I'm a rewards member (this was before she even rang me up to see what the price was). I told her I checked the price tag carefully and that this bottle was on sale and I'm not worried about the price even if it did ring up more if I'm not a rewards member. As I was telling her this, she had my drivers license and began to type in my name and address and signed me up for the rewards program after I had repeatedly told her I didn't want to sign up. She was very pushy and sneaky, and did it all very fast and against my permission. This made me very uncomfortable and I will not be back.

I shouldn't be surprised, this is just another crappy Top Ten location. If you are going tell people your store policy is to check the ID of everyone in your party when purchasing alcohol, then you should actually tell your employees to follow this policy consistently. My wife and I stopped in here over the weekend, and we were asked for ID upon entrance because they were having a tasting event. WE were asked for ID while other people walked in past us. Then when we went to the register we were both checked again. First of all, only one of us was purchasing. People on both sides of us who looked younger were not carded at all in one case, and only one of two together was carded on the other side of us. Apparently some people who work here think they are the police, when in fact they are just being a pain in the ass for no reason. Top Ten's liability is with the individual who is actually purchasing, and that is it. Unless you are coming with me to hang out and verify I actually consume the alcohol, checking everyone's ID is absolutely pointless. Go anywhere else and avoid being humiliated and hassled. Buy from HyVee, Whole Foods, or Trader Joe's and save yourself some money too.

The help is so kind. I was having an extremely bad day. I had received sad news. Several employees helped me. One helped me pick out different beers to put into a customized six pack. I accidentally broke one glass of two in a scotch gift set. The employees were kind. They sent me home with a complete set and even gave me the extra glass that I hadn't broken! Another emloyee put my cart away. One even carried my bag to my car! (It wasn't necessary). The feeling I took away from the store was warmth and kindness. It really helped make my day brighter. Thanks. I will be shopping there again.

Unbeatable beer selection and fantastic knowledge of all their merchandise. Prices are hard to beat as well.
