About

The Toyworks is a fun place to shop for kids that are newborn or young at heart. We have toys, games, puzzles and crafts. We offer free gift wrapping too.

Story

Established in 1977, The Toyworks offers over 15,000 different items and prides itself on personal service and free gift wrap. Owners John and Marilyn Goehring are ex-teachers who stress their philosophy of providing the largest selection in the North Bay of top quality, educational and creative play products that stimulate the child's development. They purchase products from over 500 manufacturers and have been able to be successful against the corporate toy stores and big box retailers because of this. Toys R Us was quoted recently as having 9000 different items, in this some article it pointed at Wal-Mart carries only 3000 different toy items. The Toyworks offers 15,000 different items. So browse through our online catalog, but to really see all our selection, be sure to come check us out in person!

I worked for them many many years ago. The ownets were always kind and considerate of me. Family owned. Shop local and keep local money local!

As a grandmother of 4 who live far away, I just can't keep up with appropriate kinds of presents for these guys. I go into Toyworks and they walk me around to different areas appropriate to the kid in question. They all are up on the newest toys and things and I am amazed by their attitude and kindness and patience and knowledge. It never ceases to amaze me...

11/24/14 This toy store is nestled downtown and has an adorable Lego soldier "standing guard" out front. I brought my husband here - mostly with our nephews in mind - partly for him. We walked from the back of the store through to the front. Shelves are lined with plush dolls, small toys, stuff you can build, animals you can dress, and more awesome toys - even some I recognized from childhood! There were children's art supplies, a Rube Goldberg setup out back, and a balance bicycle in the window (a bicycle with no pedals, for toddlers). It was full of greatness and a lot of fun to walk through! We didn't buy anything for our nephews (we already have their Christmas gifts) but this would be a great place to shop for any little ones in your life.

The Toyworks is really a great store. People goof up sometimes, but we're human, so give them a break! One time I had the most mangled, laughable wrapping job done there by a teenage employee who didn't know how to do it, but it was just kind of funny and not a big deal. It's not like the 5-year-old the package was going to would be criticizing the wrapping job. The more important thing is that the store is packed with so many good quality toys from Melissa and Doug and award winning toy makers. I've gotten well-informed advice on what to pick out, they're local, and it saves me from the big box toy store.
