I cannot speak to the other half of the store. This review is for the Aquarium Portion. They explicitly state there are no refunds. I went in and purchased some Plecos. I did not realize that Plecos grow to be 18 inches or more for the breed I bought. I asked him if he would make an exchange since the fish were healthy and I brought a sample of my aquarium water to prove I had good water conditions. He obliged and I told him I wanted some other fish. He told me to call 2 days later. 2 Days later, I called and sure enough, the fish I wanted were being delivered as I spoke to him. I zipped on over and they were still in the bag ready for me. Some damn good customer service if you ask me. The fish I traded for are still healthy and alive about a month later. I'm really pleased and will continue to go to Trade Winds Aquarium. I really don't see anything wrong with it. I never see dead fish and Victor is always doing maintenance on the fish tanks taking great care of them. The only negative thing to say is it the merchandise feels kinda cluttered and crowded but thats no big deal to me. I highly recommend if you are an experienced aquarist. But if you dont know what you want or haven't done your research you are going to have a bad time no matter where you go.

Fish didn't even survive an hour and they don't offer refunds.

I feel bad rating this place below average because its products are actually reasonable, but I feel obligated. The fish are in really bad condition. Basically all the fish in all the tanks have ich (a parasite) and dead fish were floating and being eaten by other fish in the tanks. I've kept Oscars before, and the Oscar fish they had there were unnaturally colorless. It also looked like they had fin rot from dirty water. They had large juvenile red slider turtles in a tank that didn't have enough water for them to swim in, and didn't have a place they could be completely out of the water and dry. I couldn't see in the back, but they keep other animals in cages where customers aren't allowed to go unsupervised. I don't know the conditions back there But for all those offenses, the pet store is inexpensive. The stores prices rivaled those at Amazon ($11.99 for a 10 gallon tank, $3.99 for 5 lbs. of gravel, etc.). It's also conveniently located. I'd recommend you shop there for the supplies, but don't buy any animals.

They keep 8+ kittens in tiny containers behind the counter. Claim that they have "innoculations" for them...although i wouldn't trust it to be sanitary or safe. Inhumane, please don't create a market for this kind of animal cruelty, get a kitten from ACCT or PAWS instead!

It's a dirty and small petstore. I would much rather go to Petco or Petsmart, but I can walk here and they carry Science Diet.
