Story

The second Trainwreck opened April 1, 1991 at Westport Plaza. The Trainwreck saloon at Westport Plaza is reminiscent of a saloon in an old cowboy movie. Many of the antiques are authentic and date back to the turn of the century, including the 12 foot by 30 foot oak bar. Swinging saloon doors, planked floors, stained glass and brass tappers date this restaraunt to the late 1800s. A large model train circles the bar keeping patrons wondering where the name Trainwreck Saloon originated.

This place always has great service and great food. We frequent this place often for work related meals. They have a wide variety of food to choose from and their burgers are delicious. If you are feeling adventurous, check out their cheddar burger with the soft cheddar on it. It is super delicious.

Trainwreck isn't bad, and it isn't good, either.

The servers tend to perform the bare-minimum effort required to be accommodating. I find the food to be way over-cooked and fried. My hypothesis for why people actually seem to like this place is that they drink too much here, and then they cannot tell the difference between good food, bad food; good service, bad service; etc.

Look, Trainwreck qualifies as a place to eat and drink, I guess. Maybe I'm disingenuous for not praising Trainwreck for its drink menu, which is decent, but, like, I can walk a little more than a few feet to Drunken Fish, where the food, drink, and service are absolutely fantastic. That is not the case at Trainwreck. Also, across the street there is always O'Fallon Brewery, if you want a more apples-to-apples comparison of bars and restaurants. O'Fallon Brewery has much more room, better service, and better-cooked food than Trainwreck, but it is by no means fantastic either.

If you're bar hopping around Westport Plaza and you have time to kill, then, sure, stop by at Trainwreck and Fuzzy's (they both kind of fall in this same category of mediocrity, and they're right next to each other). So, in those circumstances, I would still go, but I honestly cannot recommend Trainwreck as a place you ought to spend a lot of time at.

Always good food and service. Nothing like a brakemen's basket smothered in cheddar cheese with seasoned fries.

On Saturday night apparently they have music, and they charge you six dollars to get in. I told them that I Only wanted to eat and they said that if I leave before 9:50 PM (it was like 9:10pm) they will give me my money back. Since I really did not want to hear the music sat outside, the place was crowded (the outside tables).

Had a couple beers and the bison burger, I will recommend it, it was good, the fries were ok, nothing special. The beer recommendations the server did were not accurate but ok, no worries. Beside that the service was good (even tho they were dealing with some difficult costumer 2 tables away)

PS: Have to add, whoever was playing that night. It was awful!.

Good dinner. Had a yummy bison burger and would order it again next time it was that Good!  Service was excellent as my server was very attentive to my needs!  Will definitely be back!
