Friendly service, nice portion sizes and delicious food for a very fair price. we had a fettuccine with tomato cream sauce with shrimp & calamari and the Gorgonzola basil gnocchi and finished off with tiramisu of course. Everything was delicious, as was the warm bread and bruschetta that’s free with the meal. We’ll be back for sure!
This restaurant has been in Bettendorf for as long as I can remember. I remember it all the way back to when I was in high school in the early 2000s. I never actually made it there, though. I wanted some Italian food after work tonight and decided to give it a try. First impressions of the space - I don't think much has changed from the 80s or 90s. Certain aspects of the space are inviting, including the rustic brick walls in certain areas, the large wine rack in the main dining room, and the soft lighting throughout. The soft burgundy and yellow walls add an extra warmth through the dining room, and the simple wooden booths with plate glass dividers adorned with etchings of grapes and vines bring some clean accents. Other parts of the interior just make the space appear unnecessarily old and dated, however. This is most prominently seen in the 2x4 drop ceiling, whose black tiles are sagging noticeably throughout the main dining room. The floors, composed of 4 inch square tiles of varying reddish beige, similarly seem of a style not prominent for decades. Neither of these features pale compared to the sound system employed in the dining area, which consists of what I can only best characterize as a single speaker that appears to have blown out sometime between 10-20 years ago. The volume on my visit wasn't terrible, but the speaker would periodically blare static or simply cut out for a few seconds. Definitely threw off the overall mood of the visit a bit... While the ambiance wasn't perfect, neither was the food. I enjoyed the bread and oil, which was of the style and quality expected at an Italian restaurant - crispy exterior with a warm soft inside. No complaints there. My choice of entree, however, left me a bit disappointed. I'm a huge fan of pesto and as such opted for the Fettuccine al Pesto with shrimp. This was, unfortunately, pretty disappointing. If not for the sparse pieces of what looked like basil leaf in the pasta, it would not have even visually looked like pesto. The pasta itself was fairly gummy and tasteless - not sure if it just wasn't seasoned well in boiling or if there was another issue present. The only real high note to the dish was the shrimp - the six small shrimp included amongst the huge bowl of fettuccine. Fortunately, the desert saved the meal for me which, given the eponymous nature of the establishment, had to be a piece of tiramisu. The restaurant's namesake did not disappoint - the cookies were soaked with espresso, the marscapone cream was light, and there was a delightful dusting of chocolate powder and copious chocolate syrup adorning the plate. The slice was a nice light, not overly sweet, way to end the meal, something I'd return for all alone. I do get the distinct feeling I may have just chosen not the best dish. A cursory second look at the menu left me hungry to try other dishes, several of which feature prominently a red sauce of some type. I'll have to come back and try again at some point. I would clarify I do kind of enjoy the vintage atmosphere of the dining room, though I think they really should replace the speaker - that was a bit obnoxious. Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options available on the menu. Kid-friendliness: I didn't see any children during my visit. Nor did I see any high chairs either. There is a kid's menu available however, so I'm sure they accommodate the younger among us. Parking: There is plenty of free parking in the lots surrounding the restaurant.
Food is always great at this place. This last visit I had I couldn’t find something on the menu so I asked the server about it and he was able to fix something up for me that was exactly what I wanted. Awesome service. Ther dessert is the best!!
The first photo is from May 26th 2017 which was the first time we ever tried trattoria tiramisu and the second photo was from last night, May 26th 2022. We always get the pollo alla mantanara and the whole family loves it! We celebrated my sons birthday last night and he specifically requested trattoria tiramisu. It is the best food every time and the best tiramisu we have found in the QC. There were only 2 people working the front part of the restaurant last night and they were pretty full. They servers were fantastic even though they were severely short staffed. Please have patience and enjoy your meal. Don’t forget to tip your servers!
Delicious, authentic Italian food. You are given brusccetta to start your dining experience as well as fresh bread and olive oil. The ravioli pomodoro was amazing
The food was amazing. We loved every bit of it. We would love more dessert variety if possible tho. The food was perfectly cooked and service was really nice. UPDATE: We ate here yesterday again and it’s still the best Italian restaurant here in the Quad Cities that I’ve been to. Still 5-stars. They’re watching social distancing as well due to the pandemic. I didn’t even notice that there were a lot of people eating already when I saw all the cars parked outside. The place was clean and still cozy as before, and the service was amazing.
Everything was great , our server took great care of us, the bread and bruschetta was delicious and the pasta was amazing.
Great food my chicken was so tender no knife was needed!, good sized meals, super friendly staff. I wish there was a place like this back home!Food: 5/5
My 1st time eating here. I was extremely impressed with the friendly service. The food was superb. I had the ravioli all vodka. I absolutely loved it. Moscato was excellent as well. My husband knows Gill and glad to have met him. Truly enjoyed spending our 1st Anniversary Dinner there. Will be back soon. Thank you Gill.
We got there shortly after they opened and were understaffed, but Tomas our server, was attentive and kept us informed they were having a staffing issue. He was quick to get our drinks, bread and taking our orders. All while we saw him taking care of a larger party near us which had a complete jerk in their party. Tomas maintained his amazing attitude and we apologized for jerks like that! Our food arrived sooooo fast and it was wonderful. Definitely would go back. First time there as we were just visiting for the day/night.
