Story

My name is Anne Tippin, and I have owned and operated a boutique travel agency in Tahoe City, California, since 1984. I have been a Certified Travel Consultant (CTC) since 1993, the travel industry’s highest proficiency rating. These many years of service have enabled me to work with virtually every aspect of the travel industry.

My firm, The Travel Agency, works with a widely diverse clientele. Many of my clients push the limits of international travel, looking for 'off the beaten track' itineraries and undiscovered adventure.

I am often asked, "What is your specialty?" The short answer is: The Entire Earth. My experience tells me that travel preferences trend in different directions at different times. Recently, my top selling locations have been Africa, Italy and the Antarctic. But only 3-5 years ago I was immersed in South East Asia, Russia, India and South America.

One area of particular expertise is the exciting world of mountaineering and intense adventure travel. I have worked extensively with internationally renowned mountaineers and professional guide services, and have made complete arrangements for these individuals and their clients to summit the highest peaks on the planet. Working in this specialized sector, I handle the pre- and post-trip arrangements to fit with their climbs, giving them the seamless, high caliber adventure they seek.

There have been many changes in recent years that affect would-be travelers. We at The Travel Agency make it our business to remain current with the technical side of the travel industry and to keep watch of emerging social/political situations in the world around us. Just as there are destinations we no longer recommend, it has been a great joy for me to discover travel opportunities in various developing countries as they improve infrastructure and focus on hospitality for travelers.
