The complaint about airplane noise is understandable. Nevertheless, some understanding on all sides is in order. Buying a house near an airport is like buying a house next to the train tracks. If you find trains annoying, look elsewhere. If you find trains soothing as I do, (even the horns blowing as the train approaches a crossing), then it can add quite a bit of variety and pleasure to life. There's certainly nothing to be particularly afraid of. You're more likely to have an automobile careen into your yard--and maybe even into your living room--than you are to have an unfavorable encounter with an airplane. Except in very rural areas, the traffic patterns aren't the choice of the pilots, and sometimes not even the airport operator gets to decide. Wind direction is the largest factor since it determines which runway is used for takeoff and landing, and which direction the plane goes down the runway so it's facing into the wind as it takes off and lands. From there, planes are required to approach and depart in either clockwise fashion or a counterclockwise fashion. Pilots are required to follow the procedure and can't just decide to come in over an unpopulated area as a courtesy. Prevailing winds determine the most frequent path for approach and takeoff. Sounds like you're in the takeoff path because the engines would be practically idling and making a sort of fluttering sound if it was the approach-and-landing path. That's a function of the local weather pattern around Ft. Pierce. You might be able to contact the airport administrator/operator. That would be much more effective than posting on Google+. 5 stars for being an apparently well-run airport and the on-site restaurant is a nice bonus. They had good food when I lived in Ft. Pierce many years ago.

Great airport. To the people that are complaining about airplanes, too bad. The airport was there first before you built your home. You are selfish. If you want no noise, move to the everglades
