Didn't have homeowners insurance during Hurricane Matthew DUE TO THEIR OVERSIGHT!

Had Homeowners insurance through Tri-City from Travelers insurance.  My policy has been in place since 2009 and was auto-renewed every year.  

I found out from my mortgage holder on the 4th Oct 2016 that my homeowners insurance had not been auto-renewed on the 22nd Sep 2016.  Called Travelers to find out why - they said my insurance agent no longer worked with Travelers....but by the 4th Oct (first I hear of ANYTHING WRONG) - Travelers has a moratorium on new policies and I have no choice but to weather a HURRICANE without insurance! 

What the heck Tri-City!?  Why have an agent if you're not going to be looking out for me?

Called my agent (Tri-City) - no answer, left several messages, still no response.  

I'm with USAA now and I WON'T be going back to Tri-City or Travelers.
