Been going here since I was a little kid. (I'm 34) My mom went here when she was a child. The cabins are 1940s era cabins, no insulation, no microwave. It's a step above camping but it's absolutely worth every damn penny. You're very secluded, the owners are wonderful people, Easy lake access, the city of Joseph is like 5 minutes away. The review that is all upset about the microwave thing needs to lighten up. The entire charm of this place is its lack of connection to the outside world and its amenities. It's 'roughing it' without having to truly 'rough it'. This place holds a special spot in my heart. I absolutely recommend it.

We were first time guest at Trouthaven and we very much enjoyed our six day stay in our rustic cabin on the lake. If your ideal vacation includes a flat screen TV with cable, high speed internet and microwave ovens; Trouthaven is NOT the place for you! For us, it was a retreat from the rat race! Everyday we sat out on our cabin's deck which over looks the beautiful Wallowa lake, which is only about 200 feet from our cabin's door. We very much enjoyed having breakfast, lunch and supper on our deck in the quiet beauty of this place. The cabins are placed close together and so guest tend to mingle. The other guests were all friendly, guest share common areas such as the park like setting for picnicing, volleyball & horse shoes. The place gave me a nostalgic family resort type feel. It was refreshing to have no news, television or other electronic type distractions. We came for the State Softball Tournament in Enterprise. Rusty is a softball coach and this was a great place for him to relax inbetween games. The hosts Greg and Gail Johnson are very welcoming, friendly and even allowed the team of twelve girls to come out twice during our stay. They had a great time playing in the lake, volleyball, ping-pong and more. Thank you for making our tournament feel like a relaxing vacation! :) Rusty Barbee & Jenny Morgan Portland, Oregon

Not children friendly at all. Say dogs are a "rare exception" except it seemed every person in every cabin was allowed to have one, so dog feces in the grass. Charge you a fee for leaving your boat, off the road, IN THE GRASS. No microwaves in cabin. The main firepit is not accessible for all the families to enjoy. Tall grass along your path was very annoying. The poor outweighed the good.
