In the mid 1980s as I studied Park Management at West Valley College in Saratoga,Ca, my class took trips to Lava Beds National Monument and Tule Lake Sump. There are millions of birds that stop over here on their journey North or South. In November the area is packed with an amazing variety of wildlife! Since those classes I have visited the area 4 times and always amazed at the abundance of waterfowl and land animals from Antelope to Elk, this area is pretty cool!

The scenery is stunning. I'm used to trees trees and more trees so this was a welcome change. The upkeep is excellent, I love the historic info points and it has several great attractions. Highly recommend.

A great deal of mule deer and a lot of birds. Cliff swallows and owls are mail what we saw.

Amazing access for general public to hunt waterfowl and pheasants. Lots of great grain fields, marshes and lakes. Access is great, but the roads can be nasty when it has been raining. HAVE GOOD TIRES and 4 wheel drive when it has been raining for longer than one day. If you are going to boat it, mud motors are a plus.
