Story

TFS functions as an arm of Turner Construction Company that employs a staff of dedicated, experienced personnel who have worked in and with the federal government for years and bring best practices, lessons learned and a wealth of experience to our federal clients and owners.

We are located in the heart of Washington, DC and are supported by two ancillary offices in Arlington, VA and Hampton Roads, VA. Our Washington, DC office is the home of Turner Federal Services, but our management team and seasoned professionals are mobile and travel all over the country to support any of Turner’s business units that might be pursuing federal work and need the expertise of our group.

The recent creation of Turner Federal Services included the integration of Turner’s existing federal group and Tompkins Builders, Inc. – a local DC-based contracting firm that had operated as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Turner Construction Company since 2003. Tompkins Builders, Inc. was responsible for performing much of the government construction in DC since its inception in 1910, including the Ronald Reagan Building, East Wing of the National Gallery of Art, the Reflecting Pool fronting the Lincoln Memorial, the World War II Memorial, and most recently, the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial. TFS is proud to have the long-standing history and exceptional experience of Tompkins Builders as part of this now-consolidated team and believe that the combination of our two firms delivers extra value to our customers.
