$600 fine for speeding? The fine would be $150 anywhere else in the country. Broke redneck town has to steal money from people passing through. Revenue generating leeches is what your Pig department is all about. Pray that no office ever needs assistance. I would always be the first to jump in and help, but this experience has completely changed my outlook.

I would like to make a post encouraging others to complain directly to the Turner County Sheriff Department and any other higher-up legal authority within Georgia. The officer of the vehicle with the license plate of, I believe, GV9995D arrived approximately two hours and forty minutes after cars had begun to fill the rest stop of Ashburn, Georgia. This officer claimed that the "traffic was not flowing", despite everyone having settled down by that point. An officer arriving over TWO HOURS late to a scene that was NO LONGER AN ISSUE. Pictured is this officer's vehicle is clearly BLOCKING the truck lane, forcing the driver to go into the designated car exit lane, despite his job being, apparently, to alleviate the flow of traffic. This officer then walked up to our vehicle to ask my half-asleep mother if there was any way we could leave. She said that she had been on the road for over 30 hours trying to get through Florida and Georgia. The officer replied by saying that if we didn't move to, "not call us if the car gets hit," which my mother thought was more than fair. However, despite us acknowledging and accepting the risk of a fender bender, this officer insisted that we leave. An entire REST stop full of Floridians who have left their families and homes to avoid a major hurricane in Irma, forced to leave while RESTING up for the rest of their drives. The officer then assured us that the next exit was "only three miles up," and that we "could sleep in the truck refueling lot." Ultimately deciding that getting arrested or a ticket was not worth it, we leave the rest stop to go sleep in a gas station parking lot. Over the three miles that were claimed, we arrive in another county, with no clear gas station in sight. So our brave and courageous officer that was so dedicated to serving and protecting lied about the distance to the next exit, possibly lied about what was there, and forced at least dozens of evacuated Floridians onto another county. I regret that I did not get the officer's name, but I believe his license plate to be correct. I ask that people share this, as I feel like this needs to be taken seriously in the wake of Hurricane Irma. This officer lied to people who were just trying to recharge for the rest of their trip, exacerbated the issue by trying blocking a lane and trying to make idle cars move. Is this how Georgia's finest truly conduct themselves in front of their countrymen trying to escape a potential tragedy? I would certainly hope this doesn't represent the entirety of Turner County's sheriffs.

The most nastiest police department. Everyone from their police to their receptionist are rude. They all this strange vibe when they talk to people of color. As if their better than. Thank God I'm from Florida a DIVERSE state.

Lied to me about my speed and unnecessarily asked me to exit my vehicle. Didn't even attempt to have a dialogue with me and seeing as I'm black, young, and a big guy i chose not to press the issue of him being overly aggressive. The citation only gives 45 days to pay even though it doesn't allow you to look up your violation for 10-15 days. And then what do you know a $300 ticket for doing 82 in a 70. Guess it takes money to pay for that brand new Expedition he pulled me over in. Damn shame.
