During the gas shortages of the '70's, when fuel prices jumped through the roof, some stations started scamming people into their stations by putting large signs showing an apparently low price for gas -- except the small print on the sign showed it was actually the price of cigarettes or something else.  After gas prices dropped a year or two ago, gas stations started coming up with various similar scams to allow them to advertise a low price and then charge a higher one.  A popular one is to advertise a low price *if* you also purchased a car wash -- the price is advertised in large highly lit numbers and the stipulation of the car wash in tiny letters which can barely be read from a moving car and then only when it is too late to stop.  Citgo has come up with a new variation.  I saw the low price and knew the station had no car wash so  I stopped -- when I went to fuel up, however, the price was much higher -- one of the highest prices in the area.  I checked the sign and, sure enough, the small print (which I had trouble reading even from the drive of the station) said something like "cash only".  So, if one is willing to waste 10 minutes of their life waiting in line for a slow cashier behind the guy serial-purchasing lottery scratchers one can get the advertised price.  I was late for work and I needed gas so I paid their exorbitant price -- but I won't be back.  I'd give them even fewer stars but they aren't alone in the scams -- they've just chosen a new approach.
