Welcome to the UKirk SC Facebook Page! UKirk SC is a faith community for higher education students, faculty, and staff asking big questions and dreaming worthy dreams. We are glad you are here and hope you will also check us out in person!

UKirk, as it is known around campus, is a community of students of different faith traditions that come together to share our faith journey through Christian fellowship, fun, service, worship, and witness. By encouraging an open exchange of ideas, we strive to be a Christian community in which we support each other in our lives: rejoice together, laugh together, have fun together, grow in faith together, praise God together.
UKirk is at the same time the fun, faithful and energetic group that meets two and a half blocks from the middle of USC. At the Student Center you will find a place to eat, study, not study, hang out, play pool, and catch up with old and new friends.

UKirk is a group and a place to be that does indeed want to warmly welcome you to your new home, whether that will be at USC, Columbia College, or Midlands Tech. We have a lot of great activities going on each week from Worship Sundays, to Monday Lunch Bunch, Mission Tuesdays, UKirk Wednesdays, our COED Bible Study on Sunday nights, our weekly Missions project, and finally to weekend service and fellowship events. Mission

To witness to the “good news” of God’s love in Jesus Christ to the higher education community of Columbia by inviting, equipping, and challenging students, faculty, and staff to respond to the call of the Holy Spirit and to grow in faith and discipleship.

In seeking to fulfill our mission we will work in partnership with the higher education community as it “strives to educate graduates who are capable of excelling in their chosen fields, who are dedicated to learning throughout their life, and who are responsible citizens in a complex society requiring difficult ethical and value-related decision (University’s Mission, University of South Carolina).”

In the academic years 2002-2015, through witness, worship, fellowship, study, service, prayer, pastoral care, faith development, and discipleship we will accomplish our mission by focusing on these goals:

1. Build an open, inclusive, diverse, vibrant, and broad-based Christian student community that serves as witness to the higher education arena;
2. Develop an engaging ministry with faculty and staff where faith and discipleship may flourish in the crucible of higher education work and life;
3. Challenge the Columbia higher education community to be increasingly responsive to all the needs of people learning and growing in its midst; and
4. Interpret the work of and build strong leadership for Presbyterian Campus Ministry among its partners within area colleges and universities, the Church, and the larger community.
