First off, you couldn’t have named this place more appropriately. Umami is literally the “sense of taste”, savoriness. And they live up to their name.  A must if you’re traveling through Tampa. The atmosphere was elegant and relaxed, with a unique view from any seat in the house. The music sets the mood without being invasive on conversations.  We had a baby in our party and the server and host were so kind and accommodating in helping his mom decide on a tasty meal for him. That said there’s options for people who are shy of raw.  Our server, Dani, was super friendly, informative, and down to earth. She helped us navigate the menu with ease and aided us in making the best decisions for our individual meals. She had a great recommendation for a sushi roll when I asked: Perpetual Love. Spicy and exciting! Overall the staff were helpful, attentive, and spoke to us like friends. Truly made the experience!  Which brings me to the food: excellent, absolutely excellent. Flavors were rich and comforting. I personally ordered a Rainbow Roll, seaweed salad, and yellowtail sashimi. I live in a landlocked state and can confidently express that raw fish here was superb!  I highly recommend Umami to anyone who would like the sushi experience in Florida!

This is one the BeST sushi places in the north Tampa/Lutz area. The atmosphere is inviting and clean. Excellent food with friendly staff. The food was amazing. Fresh and very tasteful. Highly recommend for lunch or dinner. You can order ahead.Food: 5/5

I had a stressful morning, and this was the most calm,  serene place I could have ended up. The mango sake was AMAZING. The sushi was also phenomenal. The eel was amazing as well, I can't say that enough.  The bowl of Miso was like any other Miso, but the actual bowl was made of stone, beautiful display.  The only interesting thing I found was that their soft shell crab wasn't friends in tempura or panko. It was fried like katsu, the same bread crumbs. I didn't mind it, but it's definitely different from any other sushi bar I've been to.  Parking: It&#39;s a busy parking lot but there&#39;s room. It&#39;s in a strip mall, so you have a LOT of stores with a lot of shared parking

Had the Sashimi for rating purposes. White tuna and yellowtail were great. Salmon was very good, tuna and snapper? were good. Your not likely to notice when put in a roll. The fried cheesecake was delicious but extremely hard to cut. Did not try the rolls yet, however, they did not have my two favorite or my favorite appetizer. Sashimi serving size is spot on, they have not cut back on size to save $$ like many other places. All in all, I do recommend Umami Sushi, I will bring the wife here sometime soon.

My husband and I just love this place. Great prices, incredible service, super fast. And the food is always great. I’ve tried so many new dishes thanks to their large selection.

Sofia my waitress was a dime. The atmosphere is fun, relaxed, and chill. Delicious food. Great music playlist. Clean bathrooms. Tasty candy. Came for the lunch special 2 rolls $11. Good booze menu.

Always fresh sushi is served. If you like a variety of raw fish try the chirashi, it will not disappoint!! They have a lots of cooked options and a pretty good lunch menu as well.

The sushi was amazing. Everything tasted super fresh. Highly recommend.  Vegetarian options: They have a section on the menu just for vegetarian rolls .   Kid-friendliness: No kids menu.

I have been there twice this month and the food is delicious and fresh! I eat their rolls, a variety of ones that they make that are gluten free. They also have gluten free soy sauce, it's surprising that some places don't offer help with gluten free choices and sauces, they are very helpful and accommodating.  Very nice and comfortable decor inside. Servers are friendly and come by often. Looking forward to going again!
