Called to ask if this location provides traffic records services and woman on phone told me to call a different location. Tried to be clear with her that all i want to know is if this location would provide me with a copy of a traffic report if i came in with a written request, again the operator told me she could give me the records department telephone number. I reminded her that this number I called is listed on the UPD website as the telephone number for the Millcreek substation and am wondering if I can come in to the Millcreek substation located at 1580 E 3900 S with a written request for a copy of a traffic report, she said, "oh, that is a substation, they should be able to do that." Clearly, UPD does not offer basic critical thinking training to their employees as they are not able to complete the most basic of tasks without multiple failed attempts. Upon attempting to complete the task with a minimum level of comprehension, it is clear the UPD employee's answer appears to be a based on the basic assumption of provided services at any police department location. I do not look forward to speaking with an actual employee in person at this location as it appears wholly possible that it may in fact be, a street side lemonade stand staffed by middle school students.

I had three cops show up at my door for a noise complaint, they explained they could hear a man and a woman talking loudly from my apartment and i was the only one with lights on . I was home alone that night and was drinking wine and watching netflix on my phone with jaybirds in. They started their questions heavy handed and aggressive, telling me not to move or put my hands in my pockets, etc. I explained I've been drinking a little tonight and tried to reassure them that I was not a threat and that the noise was coming for another apartment. After a few minutes of them taking down all my information the second officer got in my face at ordered me back into my house which I glad to do. I walked back in and closed the door and thought how unprofessional and completely rude those officers were to me, I thought i should make a comment to their boss about it, maybe he could talk to them. I open my door at ask the officers as they were walking down the stairs from the foyer, what their badge numbers were. The officer rush back up the stairs and provided a three number, which being new to dealing with police it didn't seem like a valid badge number, I asked again in which he provided the same numbers again. I then asked if that was really his badge number and placed me under arrest pushing his way into my home. He asked me to locate my shoes because I was going to jail and walked me around my apartment in handcuffs. We couldn't find my shoes and I asked if we could resolve this another way. He asked me to apologize. At that point standing in cuffs in my office as three cops stared at me I knew I had no power, if I argued, expressed how ridiculous this was I would only make things worst, so I apologize for asking about his badge number. He then lectured me about his hard job and homeless men pulling knives on him. How everything he has done and does is within the law and to protect himself and me. Eventually he released me and they left. That night I called the their Sargent and explain the situation asking for him to talk to his officers. But because I had been drinking that night, anything I had to say against what his three officers had reported didn't matter to him. His officers reported that I was uncooperative, refused to identify myself and failed to respond to commands from an officer, which was false on all three cases. I will give them credit, I looked up the laws regarding this situation. They followed it to the letter with a poor excuse as to disrupting the peace. They were within their rights as officers to decide to arrest me for a noise complaint, even though it was not me. And once they had decided to arrest me they could force their way into my home. They may have had the rights to do so, but they shouldn't have exercised them for that. We give officers tons of rights to manage the many different issues they are tasked to resolve. But they are also expected to know when and how to use them properly. The police in Murray are aggressive and know they can do just about anything they want if they twist a situation to fit it. They overused and overstep what was needed for this given situation. These officer didn't resolve the issue they were called out for, since I was making no noise to begin with and they forced their way into my home and placed me in handcuffs. I don't know who they think they are serving, but they only did harm that night. I have always been a promoter of police rights to do their job and always had the upmost respect for their difficult role. These three officers have shown me how wrong my thinking was and changed me to a detractor.
