Phenomenal experience with my family party of 5 on a Saturday at 6:30 pm. Chef T immediately spoke with us, and the great service began. The menu was different, which we loved as there was something for everyone. The oysters Rockefeller and cornbread appetizers were great. The cocktails were really tasty, and we recommend trying the Adam and Eve. For entrees, we enjoyed a selection of the duck lasagna, prime rib, fish n grits, and jerk chicken. All had great flavor and were prepared perfectly! Can't get over how friendly and interactive of an experience we had. Chef T checked back on us several times, sharing knowledge, stories, and smiles. The staff were attentive and location easily accessible. If you get a chance, go check them out!!
We were greeted as soon as we walked through the door. We had a reservation, so there was not a wait. This being our first time dining here, we ordered more than we could eat. The food was absolutely delicious! We travel to Jamaica regularly and know what to expect...the Jerk chicken tacos were actually better at Union 41 than in Jamaica! Please keep the Sunday Supper wontons as a regular item on the menu. Chef T thanked us for visiting her restaurant, and we had a brief conversation. We will definitely return and become regulars. Food that good and a Chef that's very personable to her guests definitely deserves 5 stars. -Brian and Paula
Ate here for a Italian Sunday Supper for $29.99 per person, very generous portions waitress told if I wanted more food to let her know and she bring me more. Everything tasted and looked delicious just couldn't eat everything that was given to me had to take some home.Food: 5/5
What a happy serendipitous occasion! Our dinner plans fell through and we chose this place because of the close proximity to the Country Music Museum. We had a show there and so we rushed in to eat beforehand, not realizing the magnitude of that fateful decision! Accepting a comfy seat at the "bar", imagine my delight to see Chef T working away! I had the most joyful occasion to eat a heavenly brunch prepared by her in Roanoke once and I never forgot it. I couldn't wait to order. We had crab beignets first - so delicately crispy and divine. I chose the pigx3 and that pork changed my life. It was fried on the outside, which gave it the perfect light crunch but the meat was incredibly moist I said it and tender. The cornbread stuffed squash was yummy and the soup beans were simply perfect. One friend chose the blackened fish, the whole fish and nothing but the fish, and one chose the tacos. Both were fabulous. I've never seen fish that flaked off the bone and melted in your mouth like that crispy little guy! We didn't save room for dessert but we did it anyway. Banana pudding was misleading because of the plantains... Did it matter? Absolutely not - only to make it that much more scrumptious. The rum cake we ate after our show and it was still delicious. I was afraid to try the cereal milk ice cream. Everything was so much better than we hoped. At one point I expressed my undying love for chef T, purely on a culinary level, mind you. I loved the service here as well. Everyone working behind the "bar" and our waitress seemed genuinely happy to be there. They all go out of their way to give you a great experience. We appreciated their sensitivity to our time schedule and how friendly everyone was. We can't wait to go again! Thank you so much, Chef T and everyone working!
I am very late on this review, however, everything still holds true! Go check this place out! First off, shout out to Chef T for being a black business owner in this area; I love to see it! Congratulations on everything and I wish you success here in Bristol and beyond!!! Now, on to the food... We had the pleasure of celebrating my sweetheart's birthday here. We made a reservation and were seated immediately upon arrival. We were greeted with so much warmth and enthusiasm! I couldn't help but notice and greatly appreciate the Afrobeats playing in the restaurant and the open kitchen. 10/10 for ambiance for me! Our waitress was Kayce; she was attentive and very sweet. We started with the Crab Beignets 9/10 and the Shrimp Hush Puppies 8/10. The beignets had a crunchy outer layer, but were so light and airy. The crab was fresh too. The shrimp hush puppies were fresh as well and a very good size. I would have loved some type of dipping sauce for both appetizers. We indulged a little more and tried the Roti 10/10, because why not? The flavor was THERE okayyyyy! So good! For entrees, we got the Wood Fired Beef 8/10 and the Szechuan Glazed Duck 10/10. They were both delicious! The cocktails we had were the Lost Luggage, a Mojito, an Old Fashion and an Espresso Martini. 10s across the board!!! That bartender knows a thing or two! The twist to the mojito was *chef's kiss*! They even acknowledged my boo thang's birthday and brought him a complementary "Banana" Pudding 10/10. The plantain substitute was a nice touch! After dinner, we had the honor of actually meeting Chef T. She has a beautiful spirit, is very humble, ambitious and has a deep rooted respect for the culture that manifests in her food and restaurant as a whole. We enjoyed her conversation and the introduction we received to other black chefs and establishments near and far. She gave us a tour of the restaurant and discussed the history of the location and her why for selecting it. She shared with us her vision for the place and I hope everything comes to fruition! Congratulations, again! See you soon!
Finally tried Union 41 Bristol for the Sunday Supper Italian night. I cannot recommend it highly enough. It was one of the most delicious meals out we’ve had in a very long time. Tim said the lasagna was the most delicious he’s ever had. The chicken had my mouth watering far after my stomach couldn’t take anymore. Even the Lavendar Haze cocktail I had was phenomenal. PLENTY of food, and the supper style serving elevated the meal to an experience. If you haven’t been, it’s worth a try. It’s looking like it’ll become our regular date night spot.
Expected way more. Wayyyyy more. Especially for a bill that’s $100+. We came on Sunday for Sunday dinner and it was disappointing. Seemed like it has a great reputation but the menu was confusing and not executed well. Caesar salad that could've been from a bag, bread that could've been frozen, Arancini with a chunky sauce, salmon and stuffed shells were kind of one dimensional. Deep dish pizza was alright though. Drinks were also over priced and nothing special. All in all a very confusing menu. Service was nice. Expected a nicer ambiance as well for the prices but the inside and the music felt like a run of the mill Mexican joint which was very confusing.
Update on additional visit on New Year's Eve 2023.... What a great experience once again by Chef T and her amazing crew. Food, phenomenal, cocktails great and service, for as busy as they were, great too. Watching them work together get all the food out is terrific too. Somehow Chef T noticed me cutting my steak with the wrong knife and she came right over to me and gave me a new knife. She sees all! Tonight we had the seafood Bouillabaisse which was wonderful, prime rib for me, and hot fries for an app. We also each had a cocktail. We will definitely be back to try Sunday supper and more of her events. **Added more pictures as well. We went to Union 41 in Bristol last night for the first time. There were 6 of us. Overall, our meals were really good and tasty. Our appetizers came out quickly. We had the Burrata and the Shrimp Hushpuppies. Huge shrimp were in the hushpuppies! The burrata appetizer will be my Go-To now. Excellent! We ordered the Lost Luggage special cocktail that was smoked... Terrific presentation and taste was phenomenal and savory. At our table we had a strawberry salad, the red snapper, duck confit lasagna, a Pig and 3 sisters and a 20oz ribeye. Very little tweaks needed but snapper may have been a little too done. The duck lasagna was interesting because we assumed the duck would be IN the lasagna but it was a confit leg/thigh next to the lasagna. The Pig and 3 sisters was excellent and the steak was cooked perfectly. We opted for no dessert. They added a 20% gratuity to each ticket because we were a party of 6. The only drawback that would keep me from returning in the hotter months is the temperature of the inside of the restaurant. It was extremely warm and the bathroom was at least 10 degrees cooler and it was even cooler outside. Maybe it was just a fluke and someone forgot to turn it on? Overall, we will return! The patio looked fun and inviting and they make pizza outside only as well. Vegetarian options: There is a vegetarian option that has a whole host of vegetables, sauces etc. Looked amazing! Dietary restrictions: Many ordered gluten free and she accommodated easily.
Chef T runs an incredibly well oiled machine. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the restaurant had a welcoming welcoming atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious. Everything was served piping hot, and I had the pleasure of sitting where I could watch T and her team work. I ordered the Birria Tacos, the Brisket Benedict, and my girlfriend ordered the Pig in a Blanket. First off those tacos are slapping. They could have been a meal on their own. Second that brisket meal is a perfect combination of flavors. The real star of the show is the demiglaze served with it. It really brought all of the flavors together to make something magical. Definitely a must visit again spot
It was our first time eating here and they didn't disappoint. Loved the atmosphere, food was great and the service was wonderful. A group of 8 of us were there to celebrate 2 of our friends birthdays. Everyone was sooo surprised when they played happy birthday over the sound system to acknowledge their special day. To beat it all, both ladies even got to pick out a dessert from the menu to enjoy. A big thank you to everyone at Union 41 for making this evening so memorable!
